The June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between high-ranking members of the Republican presidential campaign staff and a Russian lawyer with Kremlin ties remains the cornerstone of claims that Donald Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election.

A growing body of evidence, however, indicates that the meeting may have been a setup -- part of a broad effort to tarnish the Trump campaign involving Hillary Clinton operatives employed by Kremlin-linked figures and Department of Justice officials. This view, that the real collusion may have taken place among those who arranged the meeting rather than the Trump officials who agreed to attend it, is supported by two disparate lines of evidence pulled together for the first time here: newly released records and a pattern of efforts to connect the Trump campaign to Russia.

The young lads, Donald Jr. and Kushner were in over their heads, and didn’t have the experience to have the alarm bells ringing. But Manafort should have known better than to have a meeting with these people. His participation in the meeting is the hook that Rosenstein used to put Manafort’s tax issues on Mueller’s plate, but I still don’t see any legal basis for having Manafort tried by Mueller. It’s simply so that the media can repeat multiple every day “Donald Trump’s former campaign manager is on trial for ...”. Manafort’s tax issues should have been dealt with by a federal prosecutor already within the DOJ.

Billary Inc. and the DNC were already using Russians via the Steele dosier in an attempt to frame Trump, but they needed something tangible to help buttress the “Russian collusion” theme - the insurance policy - should Trump manage to win the election.

EVERYTHING about the meeting not only points to a setup, but because of many particulars about the Russian woman Trump Jr. was meeting with, that meeting also may have been a point of collusion between Billary, Inc. and Putin himself.
