How is any of this part of the original call for a special counsel?

Oh good grief. Well, I would think that the best Mueller gets is a hung jury.

What did Lewinsky have to do with whitewater?

The Lewinsky matter came about because of the Paula Jones trial. Paula's attorneys are the ones that grilled Clinton on Lewinsky, and Clinton perjured himself.

From Wikipedia: Jones's lawyers decided to show to the court a pattern of behavior by Clinton that involved his allegedly repeatedly becoming sexually involved with state or government employees. Jones's lawyers therefore subpoenaed women they suspected Clinton had had affairs with, one of whom was Monica Lewinsky. In his deposition for the Jones lawsuit, Clinton denied having "sexual relations" with Monica Lewinsky. Based on testimony provided by Linda Tripp, which identified the existence of a blue dress with Clinton's semen on it, Kenneth Starr concluded that Clinton's sworn testimony was false and perjurious.

During the deposition in the Jones case, Clinton was asked, "Have you ever had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky, as that term is defined in Deposition Exhibit 1, as modified by the Court?" The judge ordered that Clinton be given an opportunity to review the definition. It said that "a person engages in sexual relations when the person knowingly engages in or causes contact with the genitalia, anus, groin, breast, inner thigh, or buttocks of any person with an intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person".[28][29][30] Clinton flatly denied having sexual relations with Lewinsky.[31] Later, at the Starr Grand Jury, Clinton stated that he believed the definition of sexual relations agreed upon for the Jones deposition excluded his receiving oral sex.

It was upon the basis of this statement that the perjury charges in his impeachment were drawn up. The House of Representatives voted to impeach Clinton on December 19, 1998, on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice and sent the case to the Senate for trial.

But where’s the Russia business in any of this? This embezzlement scheme has nothing to do with Trump or the election.

When this is all over, should Manafort be pardoned if he is convicted?

Because of Mueller’s violation of unreasonable search and seizure, I would use the pardon to rectify that injustice. It really is no different than a judge throwing out a conviction for the same reason.

Federal jury’s have a nearly 95% conviction rate.

He'll have to wait in line. Flynn is first.

“Federal jury’s have a nearly 95% conviction rate.”

Which makes it even more compelling that Manafort didn’t make a deal. It’s likely they know with certainty that Mueller has a less-than-zero case for this jury.

Manafort defense cross-examination of Mueller’s star witness Gates likely will blow up the case against Manafort! Just need to catch Gates in a lie or two and his testimony won’t amount to a hill if beans - except to help
exonerate Manafort!

Did you commit crimes with Mr. Manafort?” the prosecutor asked. “Yes,” Gates responded.d

That isn’t evidence. Gates is a fact witness. He can only testify as to facts that if true would support the essential elements required to demonstrate a crime. Calling someone else a criminal is not evidence of anything.

These attorneys are really bad. No wonder Ellis has no patience with them.

“The Clinton’s are untouchable. Sessions is unwakeable.”

The AG reports to the President. Do you really think Jeff Sessions is failing to do Trump’s bidding? Do you really think Trump is the type who would tolerate intransigence from a Department head for nearly two years and do nothing about it?

Do you really think the Clintons walk free because Jeff Sessions recused himself and Trump is powerless to do anything about it?

Trump’s famous “Because you’d be in jail” debate zinger was a hilarious and effective retort, but since then, when has Trump lifted a pinky finger to put Democrats in jail? Never.

You Sessions haters need to wake up to the realization that Trump has zero interest in using his DOJ to go after Democrats legally. Zero. Zip. Nada.

He is destroying them politically. By making America great again and by solving myriads of supposedly unsolvable problems, easily and in his first year, he is exposing them as self-serving political hacks who for decades have cultivated and exploited class divisions to scam the American people.

Destroying the Democrat brand politically will have profound and far reaching effects - far beyond anything that would be gained by locking up Obama era democrats.

Sure, we’d love to see them perp walked to the gallows in orange jumpsuits - but Trump’s way is better - you’ll see.

So Gates admits fraud and theft and IRS problems and gets immunity to testify? He’s an admitted felon guilty of more crimes than Manafort and we are to believe him???
