Google Refuses To Assist U.S. Military, Bends Over For China’s Communist Censors
The Federalist ^ | August 6, 2018 | Helen Raleigh

Besides clearly showing the company is willing to put profit above doing what's right, their decision to censor their search engine in China is likely to threaten their bottom line in the long run.

Should Google change its famous motto “Don’t be evil” to something like “Don’t be evil when it’s convenient, but it’s okay to be evil when it means new markets and more profit?” The question is pertinent, because The Intercept has reported that Google plans to launch a censored version of its search engine in China in the next six to eight months, pending the approval of Chinese regulators.

China already has one of the world’s worst records on internet freedom. The Chinese government has built a large army of censors to scrub the internet to their liking in real time. Under President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government has further tightened its control over its people’s right to free expression. Chinese censors cast a very wide net of control. Whether it’s The Wall Street Journal site or the image of Winnie the Pooh, whether it’s a serious topic or something funny — anything the government doesn’t like, or any phrase or images even remotely associated to anything the government doesn’t like, is either banned, blocked or simply disappears.

This is an excellent article.

It shows that the management at Google despises America and the American people. And that Google is more than willing to conspire with the government of Communist China.

Should Google change its famous motto “Don’t be evil”

The problem is that google has a leftist religious definition of the word evil. By their definition, promoting leftist philosophy is good, regardless of the means chosen to do so.

Sure, but as long as there is no antitrust enforcement, what is the downside for Google? They don’t care if conservatives are mad at them - provided that those conservatives don’t take any actual legislative action. And thus far, thanks to industry lobbying, there is no risk of that happening.

“Um.... Google is NOT AVAILABLE in China.”

You should read the article. You might actually learn something.

From the article:

Google plans to launch a censored version of its search engine in China in the next six to eight months, pending the approval of Chinese regulators.

Sadly, what you point out is the reality of the situation.

In my unprofessional opinion, these corporations are either de facto monopolies or bordering on it. That should at least be looked into by the Feds.

Isn’t there a ‘bust the trust’ gang in this administration?

I don't think the average citizen realizes just how deep the penetration of the left is into our society and how close we are to losing America to the oligarchs. We are thisclose to losing the Republic our Founders gave us. If we lose Trump...well you figure it out. Vote dammit!!!

Have the State Department declare them to be an agent of the Chinese government and then investigate every nook, cranny and bodily orifice in the company. Shouldn’t take long to find violations that can be prosecuted.
