Standing at the police line, I did not see anything thrown prior to crowd control being deployed. There may have been. My impression was that things were settling down before the first flash bang exploded.

Prior to launching any countermeasures, the PD announced over their speaker that (antifa) were throwing “bottles and rocks” at the police at one specific corner, and because of that, they were now evacuating that corner. Leave or get riot-control measures. Seemed pretty clear. Portland has some realcrazies who weren’t there so much to protest as to fight the cops at the drop of a hat. Lady in black that wierded out on Poole must have been late to a zombie casting call - definitely not a marriage candidate - and it showed. Highlight was the dog in the fountain and watching the medication-challenged generation crying over not being able to act-out. Sunflower-BubbleBoy gets First Place for most original riot costume.
