Family Of Seagram's Liquor Heiress Nabbed Nn NXIVMSsex Cult Arrest Pays Her $100M Bond

Seagram’s liquor heiress Clare Bronfman wept in court Friday as family members signed on to pay her whopping $100 million bond, so she can stay out of jail while awaiting trial for her role in an upstate sex-slave cult.

Dressed in a black long-sleeved shirt and baggy slacks, a blubbering Bronfman, 39, wiped tears from under her glasses as Brooklyn federal court Judge Nicholas Garaufis reminded her mom and brother in law that they’re there to keep her honest.

“I think she knows the responsibility as well,” said Basit Igtet, a Libyan entrepreneur who is married to Bronfman’s sister, Sara.

“She appreciates what we have taken on for her.”

Bronfman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly helping Nxivm cult leader Keith Raniere by stealing the email passwords of his “perceived enemies,” racking up charges on his dead ex-girlfriend’s credit card, committing identity theft and laundering money.

Garaufis set the sky-hail bond — and ordered Bronfman to be kept on home detention with an ankle monitor — after prosecutors argued the wealthy scion is worth roughly $200 million, owns an island in Fiji and has access to a private jet.

Her sister Sara — a former devout Nxivm member herself — was supposed to co-sign the bond, but couldn’t travel on short notice from her home in France because she’s nursing a new child, so Igtet came instead, defense attorney Susan Necheles said.

“Their relationship has been strained but he is married to Miss Bronfman’s sister and is committed to her,” said Necheles.

Doesn’t 10 % secure the bond? Mostly refundable if she doesn’t flee.

I thought the 10% is a fee for the person who promises the court the actual bond. Not sure most bonds men have the capital to guarantee 100 million dollars.

I believe that type of bond requires court approval. But who would want to put up 90 million on a very rich and potential international fugitive that may likely flee into a life just as flush as she’s had. Or perhaps killed by ‘other players’.

As for how the bondsman is payed, the 10% is what they keep. But could probably be negotiated, more the likely not.
My guess only. Anybody know different I’m sure they’ll chime in.

But you don't get full points unless you can name the one in back, as well.

Yeah on a cheap bond, but a big bond around 100 million.

No Bonds Smith is going to take that risk. It’s simply too much money.

Whoever does is responsible for the other 90 million if she does not show up to court.

I bet whoever did it required the full amount. They are simply not going to risk being held liable and their own prison time for that amount of money.

“The love of money is the root of all evil.”

I wonder if part of that saying is that for some/many, even though they have millions of dollars and “love” all the stuff it can buy; they still feel unfulfilled? So then they turn to the weird stuff?

I’d pay good money to see her skip bail and have Duane “Dog” Chapman go after her pampered ass.

Haha!

What a business!

I respect anyone that’s a Bond’s Smith. The risk of flight has go to be high, and then you have to pay a Bounty Hunter, like Dog the Bounty Hunter, to go find the suspect. So you already loss money right there.

This entire thing probably seemed like a secret game to these people involved. I doubt a single one thought about the serious laws they were breaking at the time. It probably made them feel sexy and naughty which spiced up their rich celebrity lives which are probably boring as heck.

These people could get up to 20 years in prison.
