North Korea ‘refuses to denuclearise unless US agrees a new peace treaty’

North Korea is refusing to denuclearise unless the US meets its demands for a new peace treaty, it has been reported.

A month after the historic summit between US president Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore, the two sides have made slow progress.

Quoting a source with knowledge of North Korea’s position, CNN said Pyonygang wants Washington to make a “bold move” and agree to a peace treaty that would replace the armistice agreement that ended the Korean War.

Without such a treaty, which would require two-thirds approval in the US senate, North Korea is unlikely to proceed with denuclearisation, CNN reported....

CNN, boy am I taking this serious...

NOT

CNN and a number of other entities and people seem to have been under the impression that Trump and Kim would meet, and within 48 hours North Korea would no longer have nukes or long range missiles.

I guess I’m a little slower than they are, because I knew it would take some time.

Will it be smooth sailing? I doubt it. We may still have to work the guy over, but boy the media just can’t wait to egg it all on.

Patience folks...

Ummm, Cruz votes with Trump over 90% of the time. Or is there another Cruz in the senate?

If the Dems do turn it down, they own it. Check.

A quite reasonable position from the paranoid NK regime. A Peace Treaty is something that I have always thought POTUS wanted like a big red bow on top of the cake.

Its always been in the cards. The NKs want it bad, so we have to use it as a “carrot” in our approach.

The Dems would kill such a treaty at their own peril. If they killed it in the Senate, it would be really, REALLY NICE, to run the reverse “Daisy” ad on THEM in the next election like LBJ ran against Goldwater in ‘64 ...

You’d rather I go to CNN, the Washington Post, MSNBC or the Miami Herald?

Ineffective nonsensical diplomatic posturing with a fat checkbook has paid handsome commissions to those in the swamp. Any opportunity to launder money and sell influence.

Trump ends that crap. Democrats feed off that crap. Rocket Boy could give up everything bad and democrats would vote it down. Just no profit motive for them in peace and prosperity.

Pompeo recently said that the diplomatic process continues successfully with North Korea and that the media have been issuing false reports. It’s going to take some time.

Couldn’t we just write a concordat (avoiding the word treaty), and just have the President and Mr Kim sign, and do the nifty Obama-trick (by refusing to call it a treaty, it’s never presented to the Senate)?

The NKs want a treaty. So does POTUS. (In my opinion.)

Don’t know if this is fake news or what, but it makes sense to want a treaty undergirding the deal. Otherwise it’s changeable like the Iran deal. In fact Trump himself said he wanted a treaty IIRC.
