“It’s all a blur right now,” said a staffer who narrowly avoided being axed in what colleagues variously described as “a massacre” and “a bloodbath.”

Bye bye forever world's worst newspaper!

For those of you who live in the NY area: you may be more than familiar with the headlines you'd see coming from the NY Daily News, as they are the most vile and crude. A rag that hated Trump with a personal, unbridled and unhinged passion.

Its imminent death couldn't happen to a finer bird cage liner.

Didn’t Clark Kent work at the Daily Planet?

"I’m sorry I’m so inarticulate."

What? Just sorry you got $hit-canned? Not sorry for being part of the lying $hit-rag Daily News?

Yes, although for the first year or so in the late ‘30s he actually worked for the Daily Star.

That reminds me of something I was just thinking.

If Lex Luthor used a kryptonite blade to cut off Superman’s index finger, would it grow back after he was away from the kryptonite?

And that was because one of the creators of Superman (Joe Shuster) hailed from Toronto and the biggest paper is the Toronto Star.

“re-focusing much of our talent on breaking news—especially in areas of crime, civil justice and public responsibility.”

Yeah, that’s the ticket.

This is the most interesting part of the story:

“We are reducing today the size of the editorial team by approximately 50 percent and re-focusing much of our talent on breaking news—especially in areas of crime, civil justice and public responsibility.”

They are so desperate they are going to try to make money by pushing actual news (even if slanted) and cutting way back on opinion content.

Reality bites hard.

The low overhead Gothamist did NOT survive; they must have missed that bit of local news? Are the latest Gothamist wage slaves receiving union scale and bennies? All six of them.

Gothamist LLC was the operator, or in some cases franchisor, of eight city-centric websites that focused on news, events, food, culture, and other local coverage.

I’m not a reader of that pub, but with half the writers axed, should it get 50% better ... or 50% worse?
