Back in Maoist China, one of the communists' favorite tactics to keep people under control was to hold events known as "struggle sessions." When someone was caught dissenting from the party line or otherwise pissing off the wrong people, he or she was dragged to a public place and shamed by an angry mob. There was often an element of physical torture, but the main weapon was psychological. The target would be berated and insulted and humiliated for hours on end. Even the most self-assured dissenter could be broken down and made to repent, given enough public pressure. Shaming people made them compliant, and it served as a warning to everybody else not to step out of line.
Of course, that was decades ago and mankind has come a long way since then. Now we don't hold struggle sessions in auditoriums or sports stadiums. We hold them on the Internet.
Look at what just happened to actor/writer/director Mark Duplass, most recently seen on Amazon Prime's Goliath. Yesterday, Duplass tweeted this:
Well, that's nice, isn't it? Imagine that, a genuine effort to make peace with a political opponent. A recognition of our common humanity, in a time when demonizing anybody who disagrees with you is a tactic of first resort. How refreshing.
Can you guess what happened next? That's right, Duplass was loudly and harshly shamed by his peers for his thoughtcrime. The outrage mob saw him consorting with the enemy and screamed for justice.
And, of course, it worked. Here's Duplass now, insisting he's been rehabilitated and pleading for forgiveness:

And yet Hollywood still whines about the blacklisting of commie actors in the 50’s. “Blacklist for thee, but not for me”.
But in the fantasy swamp(social media) of the SJWs, that is not possible.
Their swamp, their blood thirsty rules.
He has a Brother?
Have the Liberals put a Fatwa on him too?
I hope this episode gives Mark pause about his so called liberal friends.
Within his work / social circle he is not allowed to disagree without potentially ruining his life. Does that even make sense??
Do some research on “Sleeping Giant.” They’re co-ordinating leftie attacks on people.
I think it’s a systematic effort to (1) Remove people from positions so lefties can move in, and (2) Keep the lefties in lockstep and following orders on the plantation.
RE: Within his work / social circle he is not allowed to disagree without potentially ruining his life.
Kanye West also had the same experience. But to my surprise and to his credit, he stood firm.
Lay down with dogs...
No. They don't believe that he is. They don't believe anything. Words have no concrete meaning and are useful only for their emotional effect. The strongest words with the strongest emotional effect are always preferred because less emotional words only show that the speaker is not committed enough. The words themselves drain of emotional content as they are used for every situation and have to be replaced with stronger words. But you rapidly run out of words and then you have to scream and bare your teeth and get red faced to express emotion; then you have to start hitting with implements(because people who use words this way tend to be cowards and less physically strong) and eventually the guns have to come out when sticks just get the wielders knocked down. They lose here, too, because these people have anathematized guns for so long that when they get them and train it is ineffective and the first time, say, AuntieFaye uses a sniper at a Trump rally then they will see a whole lot of guns from the unpleasant end.
Gee, I thought this approach was hard-wired into education, particularly at the high school and college level. Its called “faculty room”.
That is what I have thought for a few days in reading this and other stories. Libs are looking for conservatives in every crevice, trying to intimidate and humiliate. What was McCarthy told.....’Have you no shame, sir.” Libs sure do not have any shame. Look at the Whoopi outburst yesterday.
So they haven’t cut his arms and legs off yet or cut out his tongue?

The tolerant left.
Leftists are pure scum. I have no problem with a liberal if there is civility and we live within the framework of America as designed (even that can be a stretch). The leftists can all FOAD.
