HOUSTON – Police say a husband opened fire on two home invasion suspects as they tried to hold his wife at gunpoint overnight.
This happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in in southeast Houston near Scott and Airport.
According to the Houston Police Department, the husband managed to shoot one of the suspects in the head.
Investigators said it all started when the man’s wife pulled into their driveway Tuesday night. Then the two armed suspects jumped out and tried to rob her.
First, they took her purse, and then they tried to force her into the house. However, that is when her husband showed up.
He heard the commotion from inside, grabbed his gun and ended up exchanging gunfire with the intruders.
Fortunately, the couple weren’t hit, but one of the suspects was hit in the head, police said. The other suspect took off running.
Police said the injured suspect was taken into surgery.
As for the couple, one can only imagine what was going through their mind when this was all over. Hopefully, they’re able to find some peace of mind this morning, knowing they’re OK.

Easy to imagine what was going through the perp's mind, rather quickly and hotly. Maybe not just going through his mind, but out the other side as well.
you mean they didn’t stop, call a ‘time out’ and call the police and wait for them to arrive to take care of the situation? People protecting themselves with effective means since the police woudl have arrived too late? How dare they!

That's pretty high stress shooting, so I'm curious about separation distance.
Maybe she’ll think, “Did he really care if he hit me or not?”

At some point, I would like to hear details from the victims, as to exactly where the perp was in relation to the wife, when the shot was fired.

I’m thinking that when the perps saw the guy with the gun, they let the wife go and started running, giving him a clear shot.
Taken into surgery? If I were the doctors, I’d take about 2 hours to come up with a diagnosis.
Perhaps the perp was telling the husband if he didn’t let him go, he would turn the wife loose ??
In that case, the husband had to shoot.
He couldn’t lose !!!
