WASHINGTON — The White House has rebuffed concerns among American intelligence and law enforcement officials and ordered that more lawmakers be given access to classified information about an informant the F.B.I. used in 2016 to investigate possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to two American officials with knowledge of the decision.
Both the director of national intelligence and the director of the F.B.I. tried to keep the classified documents tightly restricted, fearing that a broader dissemination of operational reports and other sensitive material could lead to more leaks of detailed information about the role of the confidential F.B.I. informant.
Some American officials believe, in fact, the reason the White House made the decision was to provide political ammunition to President Trump’s Republican allies who have argued — without any evidence — that the F.B.I. investigation was opened in July 2016 as an effort to keep Mr. Trump from becoming president.
The White House declined to comment.
The F.B.I. files about the informant will now be available to all members of the Senate and House Intelligence Committees, instead of to just a group of congressional leaders known as the Gang of Eight. It is unclear whether Mr. Trump or a lower-level White House official authorized the move.

The Democrats should be fearful of this action. It means that the carefully controlled release is being adjusted to permit the controlled flow of in formation prior to the indictments.
The cold hard truth is the Obama Admin started surveilling every Republican candidate as soon as they announced.

What will happen when our passionately patriotic, selfless heroes, paragons of national security professionalism, defenders of the free world, historic guardians of all things good in humankind, those shining members of elite intelligence, you know like Clapper and Brennan and all their circle, especially that wunderkind Peter Strzok (oh what a historic figure if there ever was one!), when these exalted examples of human life, the most honorable beings to have ever walked the Earth, what will happen when they say they will not do it or will need 25 years to review documents before they can consider letting the lowly Congress access them?

More realistic and frightening than any Hollywood conceived sinister villain, The Stroke provided the visible and real - not imaginary - face of evil to millions of Americans.
These images, like other iconic impressions of evil recorded throughout the ages, will define and cement the reputation of hostility & hatred the DS hold towards normal, everyday working citizens.
Trump could hold 100 rallies, release 1000 files, issue hundreds of tweets explaining the situation, and yet he wouldn't come close to the impressions captured of The Stroke. These visages present the real picture, the reminder that those who act under color of authority to terrorize the populace do it with joy, glee and hatred.
Trump had to be very patient to allow the situation that unfolded yesterday to come to full flower. Once seen, the picture of the evil Stroke as the face of the DS can never be erased from memory.
It’s ONE informant, and unlikely to be a life/death deal eg some deep cover guy in 1965 Berlin.
So they blow this one, another one will turn up sooner/later.

I agree. I’ll take it one step further. I think they were survelling everybody who was somebody. The surveillance state that everybody feared.
