Environmentally minded Californians love to recycle — but it's no longer doing any good
Los Angeles Times ^ | July 9, 2018 | George Skelton

Californians dutifully load up their recycling bins and feel good about themselves. They’re helping the environment and being good citizens.

But their glow might turn to gloom if they realized that much of the stuff is headed to a landfill.

The liberal green scam is a medieval indulgence ad plausible as recycling or buying carbon credits.

Its all about feelings not about protecting the environment.

Usually has. All they keep are the aluminum cans. The rest just goes in the same landfill as regular garbage.

When my kids were young we made it a homeschool project to follow trash and recyclables from our curb to its final destination. They were shocked. One is now a lawyer specializing in environmental law.

Visited my wife’s family in CA recently. They have a minimum of three cans. One for green waste (yard clippings, tree trimmings, etc...), one for recycling (plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, metal), and one for trash. The trash can was the smallest of the bunch...

It’s like the bullet train... liberal projects never quite do what they’re supposed to do.

Indulgences at least had a purpose: to lessen one’s stay in Purgatory. Recycling is without any human or afterlife benefit.

Liberalism is like a cult... you have to abandon reason and genuflect in front of its altars.

Will this be the straw that breaks the “camels” back.

Notice it is not enough you separate glass and paper, you must remove the little cellophane window on envelopes, you must wash your pizza box, you must wash each of your containers.

And even when you do all that, it ends up in a land fill!

Environmentalist are nothing but control freaks.

The politicians go along with it as it is a revenue generator for their campaign contributor. So it is another wealth distribution scheme.

Politicians make laws that cost citizens money (but does nothing for the environment) and the re-cycle industry sends money back to them in the form of campaign contribution.

I have a GF who lives in CA who actually tears the labels off cans to put them into the paper bin.

It’s to ward off the wrath of Mother Earth. Liberalism does have a church.

“...Its all about feelings not about protecting the environment....”

Yes. Just like electric cars. Useless when it comes to the environmennt...because, where does the power come from to charge these “feel good” vehicles??? Yep, burning hydrocarbon fuels.

A huge lie.

Environmentalism, especially as expressed by the average Californian, is nothing more than a phony fashion statement.

If it doesn’t cost you anything, its hip to be an environmentalist.

We throw stuff in recycle bin just cause the trash bin isn’t big enough. I don’t think or care what. I’ve never looked at the plastic code, I refuse to wash garbage out. It’s just a complete scam

Do they use 3 different trash trucks to collect all the stuff?
