Love 95% of what Trump does. Love it.

But I DON’T agree with Trump on tariffs. Sure you *may* be able to help farmers somewhat, but you can’t help all the people hurt by the new tariffs.

Then count yourself as free traitor and not part of the MAGA revolution.

The President said “Temporary Pain.”

It’s a trade war. You don’t win by laying down, by shilling for the other side.

So, what leverage would you use to remove the unethical tarrifs and governmental price controls China, Canada, Mexico and the EU put on goods from the US?

Honestly, what is your solution? The solution is to put high enoug tarrifs on them to get them to eliminate the tarrifs they have in place. I shouldn’t have to explain something that should be blatantly obvious to even a second grader to someone who has been on this board any length of time. Common freaking sense.

Trump has said if they want to get rid of all their tarrifs, we’ll get rid of ours.

We didn’t start the trade war, but are damn well going to end it.

Dr. CARSON your presence is requested in the cabinet room to discuss domestic food changes to the food stamp and the WIC program...

IOW use only basic foodstuffs grown and processed on U.S. soil. Eliminate gourmet selections, alcohol and tobacco products. cleaning products, paper products, and other items used for sanitation should also be exclusively produced in the US with raw materials coming from us providers from sources within the country.

While we’re on the subject U.S. military clothing items from hat the boots should all be produced using United States manufactured textiles exclusively. Buttons, zippers, elastic, Velcro... Should all come from the US exclusively. In other words 100% sourced and made in America.

As long as they have tariffs on our products, have barriers where we can’t even export to the other country, and where they force 51% JVs and steal IP, we absolutely must have tariffs on those countries. That doesn’t touch the fact that we impose massive regulations (labor, environmental) on US businesses and then allow MNCs to skirt them by going to third world countries, hurting US workers (at the very least we should have a tariff equal to that for countries with dissimilar laws)

The tariffs are a means to an end.
This is all about staking out a negotiating position to cut better deals.

We have to do something to show our “trading partners” that the days of our bending over and saying “Please, Sir, may I have another?” are over.

I DO agree with the President on tariffs.

It’s the only negotiating tool that he can wield against countries that have took us to the cleaners FOR DECADES.

We have been losing the trade war for far too long and I am THRILLED to have a President that understands this fact and is letting these freeloader nations know that we’re not going to take it anymore.

Well we are doing our part, buying lots of orange juice, not frozen and finding homes for it - also drinking more.

That's Canada. Sorry, we don't eat pork.
