Long since past time to shake up NATO. Their only mission since the collapse of the soviet union has been pandering to overfed underworked NATO bureaucrats - which if you don't know is one of the cushiest jobs on the planet (good pay, housing allowances to live well in expensive places, tax free - unless uncle sam takes a slice - paid travel for home leave, long lunches with wine ...

It's fine "work" if you can get it.

What an idiot. It’s a mark against Fox News to keep this ignoramus on their payroll. It must be company policy to keep a homosexual in their lineup, because his ratings stink compared to other Fox anchors.

I complain to Fox News about Smith on a regular basis . As I imagine many people do . Those of we Fox News regulars are appalled and repelled by Smith’s pissy attitude towards our President , and all the snarky remarks that go with it , every damn day he is on . Yet apparently we Fox viewers do NO matter to Fox News because they keep the little bastard and all of his pissy commentary. I for one turn him off as soon as he comes on . I encourage all of you to contact Fox through it’s FB site and let them know how you feel about Smith .

Actually I watched all of his (Shep Smith) of his opening comments. I can only say that Fox News Channel should fire this nutcase who is so full of hate & envy, he has lost his mind. Sad...the poor fellow belongs in a straight jacket and jail cell.

NATO has served us well over the years, especially during the Cold War. However it time to have a serious critique, a time to re-evaluate, a time to update and make it capable attacking modern problems. Some of our old enemies remain the same but look different and new enemies have military and financial means of fighting us. New social norms require a new way of doing the job in some areas. It is time to negotiate!

So, in Shep-speak, Trump is turning back the global clock by demanding fair treatment in a treaty just decades old. Makes sense... /s

And THAT is a “bad” thing...especially since the beginning, we have been “played” as “UNCLE SUGAR” to be drained of people and treasure ?

Raise your hand if you’d volunteer or volunteer your son or daughter to defend Turkey from... Well, anyone, I guess.

Which is pretty much the entire problem with NATO right now. The lack of hands going up for Turkey is the same for the lack of hands for anyone in NATO by most of the EU. There’s not even a method in most of the NATO countries to conscript or increase the number of soldiers if an ‘Article 5 event’ occured in a member state.

It’d be up to the United States to produce almost all of the boots on the ground.

Which would be a deep contrast from 18th century Europe which not only had methods of conscription, but would rent their armies out to the highest bidder. So Shep, if his critical comments push the alliance back a couple centuries, I’m all for that.

(Is there a day with him where the sky isn’t falling?)
