Former Sanders delegate: 'Midwesterners aren't scared of socialism'
The American Thinker ^ | 07/10/18 | Rick Moran

Posted on 07/10/2018 6:52:04 AM PDT by pgkdan

Chicago alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa penned an op-ed for NBC that encapsulates the reasons why Democrats will be unable to capitalize this November on the relative unpopularity of Republicans in the Midwest, given the Dems' turn to the hard left.

Rosa is described as "Queer, Latinx and a democratic socialist" – whatever that means. In political terms, it means he would be a gone goose if he ran for Congress in the vast majority of districts anywhere in the Midwest.

But Rosa doesn't see it that way. In fact, he believes that Midwesterners would embrace a socialist candidate and are "not scared of bold left-wing policies." To "prove" his point, he cites labor activists like Eugene Debs and political movements like the left-wing activists who created the reformist movement in Wisconsin early in the 20th century. He failed to mention the Democratic Farm-Labor party in Minnesota that still dominates Democratic politics in that state today.

he’s right of course. People from the red states aren’t “scared” of most anything...except of having idiots like him from the blue states come live here.

We will never support socialism, if there’s any doubt.

He’s confusing socialism, the state owning the means of production, with agrarian communalism, the voluntary sharing of resources and labor...

That's not quite right.
What you describe is fascism, that overused and abused epithet, the favorite of the ignorant criminal insane..

Communism controls the means of distribution; fascism controls the means of production.

Given no other choices, my preference is fascism...

There is an urban bubble person out of touch with the rest of the country.

No doubt the pathetically-run Democrat cities of the Mid-West that are drowning in debt would love Socialism. They wouldn’t mind at all having Texas pay their bills for their bloated social programs which were used to buy votes for crooked politicians. The Gibsmedats would love it. Texans…not so much.

Texans in Houston, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio would probably go with. The urban problem is all over this country in every state. Cities suck. That's about as succinctly as I can say it.

That was my point, in deference to true midwesterners.

I’m an Oregonian, but Salem does not speak for me or most of the state outside the “valley”...thanks mostly to Californians moving north and bringing both their ponzi scheme gains and ideology with them.

The Democratic party gets their support from societal parasite city dwellers. Don’t insult the whole Midwest with this deceptive ploy.

Socialism is a war on achievement; on nature & reality. It appeals to those who for whatever reason are not comfortable with what actually works for human betterment. It is, and always has been based on lies; hatred & lies, driven by compulsions.

Misdirection: Familiar Leftist Tactic

Compulsion For Uniformity

Lies Of Socialism

It results in insufferable nanny government and unnecessary misery.

It deliberately seeks the results you mention. It really is a war on reality, in most cases driven by neurotic compulsions. I have been fighting it in all its manifestations for over six decades, and have never met more than one or two foes, who could even defend it by a logical argument, for as much as 45 minutes..

Look! Neither one of us ever sat next to an equal in any classroom. Some were better at one thing, some at another, etc.,etc. Can anyone really see anything but destruction--the bull in a china shop variety--when Government seeks to level society? Really/ Socialism at its best is a very, very sorry joke intellectually.

Of course they aren’t. They are farmers who have been socialists for decades.

But they won’t like the next step after socialism, and there is a next step, when they become sharecroppers on their own land that is “managed” by a Millennial city-raised fem-boy with a Harvard PoliSci degree and a Five-Year Plan.

The evil angelic geniuses that drive it know about this. Its earthly leaders may be deluded.

And because of the spiritual side, the best appeal to leave it may allow the leaders to be ignorant.

... I mean, allow for. I wouldn’t call Marx so much of a scheming genius as a man under possession. It FEELS so good by being a relief from all kind of irrationally ginned up envy.

The old traditional barn raising comes to mind. A farmer didn't mind helping out his neighbor cuz he might need help one day too. Also that pesky Christian thingy.(sarc)But you did mind your own business.

These guys typically don’t know what socialism is. They think it’s just welfare.

Socialism is when the government controls the means of production. The places where that has been adopted is a rogue’s list: Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, China (under Mao), the USSR, Vietnam...

No, there are no nations in Europe that are on the list.

Sanders would have been the tougher opponent.

When you are staring at debt you can never repay, socialism sounds good.
