Entire soccer team rescued from Thai cave

All twelve members of a soccer team and their coach have been rescued from a cave in Thailand where they have been trapped for nearly two weeks, Thai Navy Seals have confirmed.

The soccer team of 12 boys, ages 11 to 16, and their coach, 25, went missing late last month while on an excursion. They were found in the Tham Luang cave complex about 10 days into the search.

It took three missions, and elite military and divers from several countries, to remove all the boys and their coach. The first rescue took place on Sunday. Each boy needed to be brought out individually by a team of two divers.

One ex-Thai Navy SEAL died while delivering oxygen tanks to prepare for the rescue.

Those who were rescued have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to a report by CBS News, the boys are expected to spend a week in the hospital.

Stay out of any cave you have to squeeze through or crawl on your belly.

Good news especially for the families of the kids.

There will be tearful and joyous family reunions.

A very tough team building exercise.
(Next time, let's just go for ice cream.)
Glad they made it out.
Kudos to the kids, the coach and especially the brave divers.

I have a feeling this coach has some ‘splainin’ to do.

I did a lot of that while caving in my younger days. The key is "don't be stupid." We didn't go when it was going to rain, and someone outside knew where we were. I'm too old for that now.

What amazing young men these kids are. To go from non-swimmers to cave divers in one easy lesson is stupendous. Just think ten to fifteen years down the road.

four year old son: But daddy, that’s too hard. I caaaaaan’t”

Father: “Junior, let me tell you a story and then tell me you can’t clean your room. After I’m done, you’ll never, ever say I can’t”

The coach is a hero. And will be treated like one. God bless him.

From what I’ve read, the coach is a hero. The boys were not under his authority when they went into the cave. He found their bikes and went in after them. He kept them safe and together until the rescue was effected. He gave them his food and went hungry himself.

Fox had a Navy SEAL on who said the same thing.

If they weren’t a team when they went into the cave, they most certainly are now!

The boys will remember this adventure as an exercise in bravery...

IF the media doesn’t keep flogging it as a horror of unimaginable proportions and no one could EVER recover or live without becoming a quivering mess of jelly for the REST of their lives.

I have no doubt they will have some awakenings at night or anxiety in tight places, but their courage needs to be emphasized.

Enough with the nannies in the media.

One kid said they went into the cave all the time with the coach and they never told their parents.

This is not good.

The coach shouldn't have been doing this with young children and the children should have told their parents.

The parallels to child sexual abuse are there.

The kids are doing something they know they shouldn't be doing with an adult but they don't tell their parents.

I'm not claiming the coach was sexually abusing kids but it's the same idea. Doing something you know is bad and not telling mom and dad.
