Ex-GOP majority leader: Republicans must protect Mueller [RINO Frist]
The Hill ^ | July 7, 2018 | John Bowden

Posted on 07/07/2018 1:43:23 PM PDT by jazusamo

Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) warned Republicans against continuing their "assault" against Robert Mueller, writing in an op-ed Friday that the GOP must let Mueller continue his investigation.

In an opinion piece for The Washington Post, the former Tennessee Republican urged Republicans to fight for the "rule of law," even if it meant going up against the Trump administration.

"I am also a Republican because I believe in the rule of law. Republicans must fight for that principle today — even if it means pushing back against a Republican administration," Frist wrote.

"It isn’t easy to tell a president of your own party that he is wrong. But the assault on Mueller’s investigation does not help the president or his party," he added. "[But] the president must remember that only Mueller’s exoneration can lift the cloud hanging over the White House."

Frist went on to argue that claims of "runaway legal authority," such as those made by former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort in an attempt to have the charges against him dismissed, do not hold up when compared to Mueller's record.

"I have worried over the years about runaway legal authority, and I’ve battled against activist judges. I don’t worry about Robert Mueller," he said.

"And his investigation is getting results: By any objective standard, he has moved swiftly, obtaining 23 indictments and five guilty pleas in just more than a year."

Trump has frequently characterized Mueller's investigation as a "witch hunt," and has accused the special counsel of going beyond the original scope of the investigation to pursue charges not related to alleged Russian election interference.

Republicans have frequently pointed to text messages sent by former members of Mueller's probe as evidence of pervasive anti-Trump bias that they say tainted the investigation from the start.

Mueller’s so called investigation is nothing less than an assault on a duly elected President, and his administration. Frist is still nothing but establishment trash.

This isn’t the “rule of law”. Mueller represents lawlessness used by a political machine.

The Frist hospital system just bought our great hospital. Doctors are leaving anticipating what’s to come.

Twenty three indictments? Most of them for foreign individuals that he never expected to show up and when they did he wasn’t prepared. Then there are the dubious process crimes.

Sorry, we are not buying it.

"And his investigation is getting results: By any objective standard, he has moved swiftly, obtaining 23 indictments and five guilty pleas in just more than a year."

Out of those 23 indictments, 13 were Russian nationals who Mueller knew would never show up in court. And one Russian entity that DID show up (Concord Management, a corporation) has a legal team that has spent the last three months making Mueller's team look like a bunch of rank amateurs who never should have graduated from middle school, let alone top Ivy League law schools.

On top of all this, Mike Flynn entered a guilty plea late last year ... and his sentencing has just been postponed AGAIN -- for the third time. Perhaps Mr. Frist can weigh in on this and explain what this is all about. At the rate the DOJ and FBI are being completely discredited, Mueller might end up begging Flynn to withdraw his guilty plea.

Politics makes for strange bedfellows and Frist got into politics not caring which party he would join after building a successful career as a heart surgeon.

By chance, he became the GOP point man to win a Senate seat for the political machine of Republicans in Tennessee.

Public opinion has turned strongly against the Rigged Witch Hunt and the “Special” Counsel because the public understands that there was no Collusion with Russia (so ridiculous), that the two FBI lovers were a fraud against our Nation & that the only Collusion was with the Dems!
