First, note that the Founding States respected income inequality, evidenced by the Constitution’s Clause 8 of Section 8 of Article I, that clause giving Congress the power to grant temporary monopoly power to inventors.
Article I, Section 8, Clause 8: "To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;"

Also, Mr. Hughes evidently does not understand not only that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the unconstitutionally big federal government the specific power to tax and spend for vote-winning INTRAstate welfare purposes, but also that a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices had clarified the following.

The Court had clarified clarified that Congress’s power to appropriate taxes is limited, Congress able to appropriate taxes only for what it can justify under Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States."—Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.


So if Mr. Hughes really wants to lead the effort to put a stop to politically correct income inequality issues then he needs to support Pres. Trump in leading the states to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes.

Once unconstitutional federal taxes are stopped then Mr. Hughes can further distinguish himself by giving to the poor all the money that he is able to keep from no longer having to pay unconstitutional federal taxes.

Problem is the rich won’t pay, because their income is relatively small.

Their money is cached away in wealth. They don’t get a weekly paycheck.

They only pay taxes when they liquidate some of their wealth, and then they pay at the lower capital gains rate.

He’s happy to give half of it away because he didn’t work for it.
