Move over, House Freedom Caucus. Progressive lawmakers are poised to play a pivotal role in the next Congress if Democrats take back the House in November.
That’s because a dozen members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) are in line to chair congressional committees, which would give the left-leaning group immense power to influence the chamber’s legislative agenda and strengthen their hand as chief antagonists to President Trump.
The stunning primary victory of self-described democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) has also opened up a coveted spot at the leadership table, bolstering the argument that progressives should have more representation in the party’s top ranks.
Some congressional observers are predicting that congressional progressives could emerge as the liberal equivalent of the House Freedom Caucus, a group that has been highly effectively at pushing the GOP further to the right by banding together as a conservative voting bloc.
“The Freedom Caucus has been a big player in the House because of the big Republican advances in 2010,” said Brad Bannon, a Democratic strategist. “I think that’s a good analogy for what will happen with the Democratic members.”
The Freedom Caucus, a group of roughly 30 conservative rabble-rousers, was launched in the years following the 2010 tea party wave that swept the Republicans back into power on Capitol Hill.
Now, many members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus believe their political star is on the rise, with some election experts predicting a blue wave this fall, largely fueled by anti-Trump energy on the left.

IF the Democrats take back the House, this is exactly what will happen. President Trump and his MAGA movement will be hobbled.
November will be perhaps the most consequential midterm election in history.
Coupled with a new, true conservative justice on the SC, this fall’s ‘Blue Drain’ will afford some epic schadenfreude.
the basis of the article is correct...it will come down to GOTV and the GOPe has done nothing to assist...my concern is though we have a guy in the WH doing a tremendous job, we don’t have a grass roots group such as the Tea Party pushing hard as we did in 2010 and 2014....

Socialist Communist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently claimed that the United States didn’t add criminal penalties to federal immigration law till 1999.
According to “fact-checkers” at The Daily Caller, that is a lie. In 1929, the U.S. criminalized unlawful entry & added penalties for violators. Up to the 1990s the U.S. added numerous laws intensifying punishment for those who enter the country without authorization.

What is the media's obsession with this woman? I've never seen so much read into so little. You'd think Bernie Sanders just won the White House in a landslide the way they keeping acting as if her 16,000 votes in a closed Democratic primary (which had abysmal turnout) in a deep blue district is so indicative of something.
Olog: you are wrong. The answer is simple with these women: WE are going to have to MARRY them. They will then learn that they are much better off with our stability than the Government’s. Chances are divorce will be the result but if you stay true to your beliefs she will have no choice but to respect your thinking and decisions. Why? Just look at the track record of B.J. , the Kennedys, John Edwards, etc. I could go on. At one point they will ‘mature’ and see the light. It’s not hopeless. A lot can happen from one decade to the next. When she turns 40 and gets horny it just may be her turn and we must deal with that. I’m sure B.J. was happy Hillary was doing it with a he or a she. It may never happen but I would at least let her know where I’m coming from.
