Go ahead and have that cup of coffee, maybe even several more. New research shows it may boost chances for a longer life, even for those who down at least eight cups daily.
In a study of nearly half-a-million British adults, coffee drinkers had a slightly lower risk of death over 10 years than abstainers.
The apparent longevity boost was seen with instant, ground and decaffeinated, results that echo U.S. research. Its the first large study to suggest a benefit even in people with genetic glitches affecting how their bodies use caffeine.
Overall, coffee drinkers were about 10 percent to 15 percent less likely to die than abstainers during a decade of follow-up. Differences by amount of coffee consumed and genetic variations were minimal.

I’ve now been alive long enough to have gone through three complete turns of...
Coffee and eggs will kill you!
No they won’t!
Yes, they will!
No they won’t!.....
The research has been building about the benefits of coffee, for 20 years.
With a little Irish Cream or Whiskey please
I drink coffee all day. Start out with hot.... switch to ice coffee around noon and consume up until about 6PM.
butter margarine
If anyone attempts to decaffeinate my coffee, their longevity boost will be radically shortened.
RAWR!
Don't drink coffee, hope this works for Kahlua.

I love diversity.

Good lord,I could have written that, except in this heat I switch to iced a tad earlier—I am drinking it right now.
I am 85 years old.
.
Recall the olive oil scare? Ruined thousands of small farmers from The Lebanon to Greece to Italy. I used it then. Use it now.
I wished I could stand the stuff.
Growing up as a child, my mother was always buying margarine and those horrible "Egg Beaters" that poured out of a container that looked like a milk carton because the dimwits on the Today Show would warn her about cholesterol.
Turns out eggs and butter (especially butter from grass-fed cows) actually LOWERS cholesterol and is far more nutritious. I go through 2 dozen eggs a week (just over 3 a day) and my cholesterol has been under 200 for years. When my wife switched her diet over to more meats, eggs and butter, her cholesterol dropped as well.
As for coffee, been drinking it every day for decades. In fact, coffee, beer and wine were the only fluids I drank for years. Only recently did I work some spring water and iced tea into my diet as I can't drink alcohol like I used to. Getting old is a bummer.
As always, idiots confuse correlation with cause/effect. Try this one: people who socialize more drink more coffee. The socializing leads to a happier life, and the will to live longer.
Or, healthy people drink more coffee.
This study, like most, is useless.
That wasn’t very nice of you to post my picture on FR.
One of the healthiest changes I made to my life was cutting that teaspoon of sugar out of my cups of coffee.
A teaspoon doesn’t seem like much, until you realize you drink 3-4 cups every day.
Now I do cold brew, and because of the lower acidity I enjoy it black.
