Poll also finds most Americans oppose sanctuary cities
Amid inflamed passions over President Trumps zero-tolerance immigration policy, a new Harvard-Harris poll finds a majority of Hispanic voters want stricter immigration laws.
The survey, by former Clinton pollster and strategist Mark Penn, found 51 percent of Hispanics want stricter laws, as do 53 percent of blacks.
The June 24-25 poll of 1,448 registered voters began with the question: Do you think that people who make it across our border illegally should be allowed to stay in the country or sent home?
Sixty-four percent, overall, said yes while 36 percent said they should be allowed to stay. The breakdown was 83 percent of Republicans, 47 percent of Democrats and 66 percent of independents.
In a report on the survey, the Washington Examiner said that after an enormously damaging few weeks of criticism over the policy of temporarily separating children from parents prosecuted for illegal entry, the poll shows the majority of Americans side with Trump.

Legal Latinos and blacks have the most to gain when the illegals are deported.
Can we send Hollywood to Mexico?
Libs NEVER pay attention to LEGAL immigrants of any stripe.
They only give a damn about ILlegal Mexicans. All the public kow-towing we have to Latinos (Spanish everywhere, indoctrination on kids’ shows, etc) is due SOLELY to “feeling sorry for” Illegal Aliens - from Mexico.
There are a lot of liberals who should be happy to move to Mexico now that its going to be the new socialist paradise. We should ask them to renounce their citizenship just to prove how confident that socialism is the best system
Illegal immigration is only popular with rich white liberals, SJW’s, college professors, journalists and Hollywood actors.
True.
I was discussing with someone more liberal. And he said how we need immigrants, how they add “vitality” or something like that.
I told him we let about 1 million immigrants, legally, into this country, and this business with illegal aliens is completely separate from our ongoing system of legal immigration.
And because of that, people such as myself see no reason to be lenient with illegal aliens.
He said he heard the system of legal immigration is so restrictive that this is why so many come here illegally.
Some people are hard to talk to.
Lil
The left has led a lot of people to believe there is no legal way for people from Mexico to come here legally. Unreal. Actually we allow far more to come here legally from Mexico than any other country.
I have been shocked over the years to have lefties tell me all of our border issues would be solved if there were just some way for Mexicans to come here legally.
This is why they need a steady flow of illegals, silly. Over a period of years, people living here are less and less likely to be Democrats. They want their country to survive and thrive.
Democrat monsters want chaos - and flooding the country with illegals hurts all Americans and threatens our systems. People who came here legally don’t want the illegals... NONE of us want them.
The US cannot “stop immigration” with our current historically low birthrate. We would have a huge labor shortage.
Sixty-four percent, overall, said yes while 36 percent said they should be allowed to stay.
That's just bad writing.
What color is an apple? True or false?
Correct. It should read “64 percent say sent home.”
This is nothing new, legal Hispanic immigrants have long been against illegal immigration. It’s the La Raza scum that are pro illegal as a path to Reconquista.
Legal immigrants hate illegals....
Now that Mexico has voted for socialism (instead of anarchy, apparently), I expect to see entire families risking everything to cross the border — SOUTH.
Am I wrong, amigos? Oh look, there go the Pelosis, the Obamas, the Jarrett. Bon voyage, enjoy the collective farm.
Romney too? Who knew?
