Can’t Texas come up with another Canadian to run for Senate?

he wants a less controversial pick

Donald Trump could bring back James Wilson from the dead and we would still up with controversy on steroids.

Why? Because one side of the isle, plus a few weak rinos, no longer have the ability to think properly.

“we don’t need judges who have either personal or political or ideological agendas, in my view. And I think that ought to comfort all of us.”

How did he vote on Kagan and Sotomizer? I know that abortion is basically a blessed sacrament in the libtard religion. But why? Who profits from abortion other than PP? Why do so many people who have never and will never abort a baby give a crap? And the SC can't just declare abortion illegal, they have to get a case to rule on. That could take years. Near as I can tell abortion has cost the left millions of voters over the years (since it's mostly rats that kill their spawn). But suddenly gun control and gay marriage aren't being worried about - only abortion. Is Molech such a harsh god that libtards are going to die miserably if the sacrifices stop?

At this point, Trump could nominate Justice Kennedy to replace himself, and it wouldn’t get Democrat or RINO support.

This is insanity! What value is calling yourself a republican and winning elections if you cannot use that power to further the conservative agenda? Cornyn is a jackass, and one of Hugh Hewitt's favorites. If Cornyn cannot advance the conservative agenda here, where else will he capitulate to the left?? Get lost bastard!!! A Trichophyton pox on every nail on yout body jackass,

Any Conservative who seriously aspires to be on the Supreme Court should know by now that he or she should not accumulate a record on abortion.

And Donald Trump and his legal advisors should also know by now that they should not nominate anyone who has accumulated such a record.

And yet everyone seems to be expecting Donald Trump to nominate someone with an extensive history of pro-life advocacy so that the Democrats and liberal media will be able to tear the nominee apart limb from limb during the Senate confirmation hearings.

Many have long suspected that the economic conservatives in the GOP elite have always manipulated and exploited the pro-life conservatives. Cornyn has just put it out for all to see.

[In the 2014 Republican Primary, Cornyn only got 59.4% of the vote running against unknown and underfunded candidates.]

That’s pretty amazing, considering he was a 12-year incumbent. Incumbent margins during primaries tend to be huge. Cruz got 85% in 2018.

Dear President Trump,
Kindly ignore the congressional wizards and make another great selection as you have with the Federal Courts.

Can’t be. Texas is the heart of deep conservatism and that senator from Maine is the truly evil one.

Or something.

This statement on top of Alabama voting in a dem senator, on top of the Bushes coming from Texas, on top of neocon Cheney coming from the south, on top of folks down there letting their historical statues be pulled down without so much as a peep, makes me wonder about all the tough talk from the south on this board about how it is the last bastion of conservatism.

I wish we could remove him in the 2020 primary, but TX voters are too uniformed to entertain notions of unseating him. Plus I don’t know of a visible candidate yet.

“cautioned Trump against selecting any nominee with a publicly stated position on overturning court precedents such as Roe v. Wade.”

..........................................

Are there any SCOTUS nominees out there who have such a position? Sure, many are pro-life, and many think Roe was wrongly decided - but if they still see stare decisis as a substantial, or even a potential, impediment to having Roe overturned, then they’re not disqualified even if that criterium is applied, as stated.

Have I missed something? All nominees I’ve ever seen testify are very cagey about making any public pronouncements on how they’d rule on any hypothetical case, and I’ve never heard about any nominee publicly saying Roe should be overturned. Does such a potential SCOTUS pick exist? Are there any like that on Trump’s list?

Oh, and changing subjects slightly, here’s a great trolling opportunity for Trump ... I’d love it if he said - I promise to appoint justices who have as much respect for court precedents like Roe as Democrats do for court precedents like Citizens United.

Trump should let the pantywaist thumb sucking open borders amnesty loving twit that he is a mere Senator and doesn’t dictate to the president and if he ever wants anything from him ever again he should tone it down and tow the party line. Knowing Trump the way I do if any Republican Senator votes against his nomination he will find a way to make them wish that they hadn’t screwed him over somewhere down the line. Cornyn should remember those infamous words about what payback can be like. Trump now has built up political capital he can use to his advantage.

Maybe it's a good idea we get it done after midterms, it will drive Republican turnout, there is no chance we won't be in the majority & we'll also let all the NO GOPers that they are doomed in their reelection bid!

Well then, appoint someone who is not known to be anti-abortion explicitly.

Just find someone who is a constitutional originalist who believes the constitution says what it means and the rest will take care of itself all in due course.
