This is DOA? There will be no majority in favor of this.

Per capita income alone in PR makes Mississippi look like Connecticut.

There would have to be an internal PR island vote, and I do not see that passing. But if this comes up, why not Guam?
To: SMGFan
Bi-partisan, my ass. As much as I like most Puerto Ricans that I know, I NEVER want Puerto Rico to be a state. It would have LEFTIST RAT SENATORS for all eternity and their Representative(s) would also be RAT(S) for eternity.
And their ELECTORAL VOTES would ALWAYS go to the RAT candidateALWAYS!

Why is a “nonvoting member of Congress” (whatever that is) introducing legislation?

We don’t need to make them a state.

Why not just give Puerto Rico independence?

Newton Gingrich as I recall proposed this when he was the Speaker.

Over most of recent history, we've had an even number of states. Who would be 52?
I think if the Democrats/Socialists/Communists/Progressives had their way, it would be Cuba!

I vote we give them back to Spain. Sorry about all that Spanish-American War unpleasantness, all a big misunderstanding. Here, have this problematic island back.

I see you can already buy 51-star flags on Amazon.
I wonder how 51 stars would look arranged into a hammer and sickle?

I say we should help PR become an independent country.
The LAST thing we need is a debt-riddles state.
