I think clearly in the summer of 2016, a lot of the big players knew the state-by-state situation was not working for Hillary (even Bill Clinton knew it). They all kept looking at the national numbers and convincing themselves that it’d all work out.
I sat in Germany on election night (8 hours prior to the end) and they were so gleeful and peppy on her anticipated win....and fell apart at the end.
I believe the lopsided vote for Hillary in California was due to the illegal vote. In Washington State we had a similar lopsided vote. Of course, the Democrats registered 180,000 voters before the elections. Most of them came from migrant worker districts.
