At hub for border crossings, families spread throughout US

(with Colleen Long contributing) MCALLEN, Texas (AP) — Manuel Martinez, who fled Honduras because gangs were trying to recruit his 12-year-old son, was prepared to be separated from his child after paying a smuggler to cross the Rio Grande by boat and getting arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol. His worst fears never came true...while he wasn’t kept under the same roof as his son, they were held in the same compound. They were reunited on Saturday, after five days apart, and were released into the U.S., a tracking device on Martinez’s ankle, while he pursues asylum. {snip}

About 70 families arrived at the Catholic Charities’ McAllen shelter late Saturday afternoon, and nearly all were gone by the following day, boarding buses to cities across the U.S. Pimentel said most of Saturday’s arrivals were not charged criminally but she didn’t believe it signaled a change in the Trump administration’s policy of prosecuting every illegal entry...but is constrained by lack of detention space, particularly for families. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has a total of about 3,300 beds at three family detention centers in Texas and Pennsylvania. “They have a limit as to how much they can manage, and that’s maybe a determining factor in how many are released that day,” Pimentel said.

Families getting released on a daily basis, only separated for a short time by age group, not exactly the picture that the MSM has been painting for us.

(And these daily buses, btw, are the buses that the rabid Dems have been hysterically blocking)

just as a p.s., from NPR: "President Obama actually deported far more people says Ana Solorzano (ph), who heads the migrant center. Between 2014 and '16, when Obama was president, around 23,000 Salvadorans were deported annually from the U.S. ANA SOLORZANO: (Speaking Spanish). GREEN: She says, in 2017, that dynamic changed completely and abruptly. Under President Trump, the number of Salvadorans deported has fallen by half. For NPR News, I'm Emily Green in San Salvador."

We need to be shipping them home.
We will not get legislation favorable to the citizens until the Bush League Republicans are all removed from office.

Anyone living in this country without proper documentation needs to get life in prison. This is no longer play time.

WHY on EARTH are these “families”, these illegal criminal invaders, being released all across the U.S. instead of being deported? OMG, what a terrible tax burden on all of us, plus importing so many useless low skill mouths, diseases we haven’t seen for decades, and murderous rapists and killers!

Manuel Martinez, who fled Honduras because gangs were trying to recruit his 12-year-old son

Should he flee to many areas of the USA, he will encounter the same! The only difference is that he will burrow in to our "Safety Net" illegally and prosper in comparison to his prior location (his son will join those same gangs to survive!)

“...who fled Honduras because gangs were trying to recruit his 12-year-old son...”

THEN WHY DIDN’T HE FLEE TO THE NEAREST COUNTRY, MEXICO OR COST RICA?

No, instead he travels thousands of miles to get to the USA. The country with the most generous welfare.

“who fled Honduras because gangs were trying to recruit his 12-year-old son”

That’s not enough for you to bypass the entire waiting line that millions of other people around the planet are standing in to get to the United States.

It’s just a BS line he knows is a sure fire sob story. EVERY Latin American country has this problem. Should we just throw open the gates to all 360 million of them? Hand over the cash?

it does boggle the mind. Especially when the news cycle the last several months has been about how most of America has to be prepared for mass unemployment because of robots. There’s not a single skill the migrants possess that robots can’t do - picking lettuce, tending tomatoes, flipping burgers...

When we have 200,000 on our border and 3,300 beds, what will happen then? We need to build the blessed wall and set up a refugee zone inside Mexico. We’ve already set up asylum centers in all these countries for people to apply in-place. We need to insist those are the only places where applicants can file. No processing on American soil.

Why don’t they apply for tourist visas, take a bus to San Diego, and then just disappear in the USA?

Do ALL these parents have criminal records?

What is to keep MS-13 gangs from recruiting his son in the USA?

Which US agencies are taking a look at the deplorable political conditions in the South American countries? Would it not be easier to fix the corrupt governments?

Maybe when the USA is great again, more countries will follow our example and get rid of the socialist and communist rulers. Why should the USA have to pay to support such rotten governments?
