In answer to your question what are we missing? A protected class.
Our flawed laws create special classes of people. Homosexuals were made a protected class. Conservatives, Christians, Republicans aren’t. So you can legally discriminate against us.

Those types of “businesses” seem to me more of a tax dodge. My town has a collection of chic-chic boutiques that close up after a couple of years and then another moves in. Seems to me most are owned by wives of wealthy guys like doctors and attorneys.

What you are missing is that the LGBT baiters were able to use the iron fist of government to crack down on a baker who disagreed with their political views. Nobody is taking the Red Hen wench to court.
