Skip to comments.Mueller signals outside prosecutors may eventually take over Russian trolls case (Running Away?)

A handful of new federal prosecutors have joined one of special counsel Robert S. Mueller IIIs cases an indication that he is preparing to hand off at least one prosecution to others when his office completes its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
In a pair of court filings Friday, the special counsel added four assistant U.S. attorneys to the case against Russian entities and people accused of running an online influence operation targeting American voters.
People familiar with the staffing decision said the new prosecutors are not joining Muellers team, but rather are being added to the case so that they could someday take responsibility for it when the special counsel ceases operation. The case those prosecutors are joining could drag on for years because the indictment charges a number of Russians who will probably never see the inside of a U.S. courtroom. Russia does not extradite its citizens.
The development suggests Mueller is contemplating the end of his work and farming out any potentially outstanding prosecutions to other parts of the Justice Department.

Will Rod RoselWeasel hold a Yuge press conference to ‘splain this new direction?
When you are in prison, it is extremely difficult to keep working on court cases with your former employer.
The Liberal Lawyers that Mueller hired are going to take a big pay cut if he ends his investigation. Those guys have been making more money than they ever could in Private Practice. I contend that the reason they keep stringing this thing out is because of the fat paychecks these guys are getting at Tax Expense. It is the old adage of “Follow the Money”.
who is paying for these new clowns? wasn’t the prosecution under the expanded anything goes authority rosenstein authorized the sc?
Mueller is separating the aircraft. So if you you take him out the other little spiders just keep working.
A new plot.
This is utter gobbledygook doublespeak.
Mueller indicted the Russian cyber trolls and companies for show. He never expected them to respond, but they did through attorneys. Those attorneys are demanding Mueller show the evidence. Mueller is claiming national security, but any accused has the right to see his accusers and the evidence used to indict.
Mueller either has to show the evidence or drop the case. In the former, he will be shown to have a very weak case, an embarrassment for him. In the latter, if he drops it, there will enormous political blowback and embarrassment.
So his action here is to throw the case to someone else outside his office and let them take the blame.
The excuse that WAPO proffers is that it will take years to complete the case and Mueller’s office will have been closed by then. BULLCRAP!
Mueller is an anti Trump fraud.
The Democrats and the Beltway establishment pushed for a special counsel in the "Russian collusion" idiocy. They got one, and they handed him a bunch of hand grenades to throw at the Trump administration. Instead, it looks like Mueller and his team have been pulling pins out of those grenades and dropping them right at their own feet.
Trump needs to END this nonsense RIGHT NOW!
The plan was for the OIG report to signal the end of this and Mulehead would file a final report citing “misjudgments” and walk away. That hasn’t happened.
Mulehead’s office has every indication of “looking for something to do” and “trying to look busy,” as it’s clear they aren’t after Trump.
Outsourcing to India?
He hears steam roller nearing knows a number to be added to his shirt.
Who gave him the authority to keep hiring US prosecutors? Dont they have other work?
It just gets better and better, for Trump.
Mueller’s name in American history will stink for 1000 years, as a corrupt deep-state flunky who came out of retirement to foolishly helped conduct a coup against an elected President.
Trying to buy time in the Russia case. Hope the judge slams that door shut and fast
