Actually the Japanese internment camps weren’t so bad, and probably saved many Japanese lives at the time, as we did have Japanese spies in this country, and Americans weren’t too happy about that, and would have taken it on any Japanese they came across.
And in many cases the Japanese were compensated afterwards - one case that I know of involved a Japanese person being given some coastal swamp land. Now it forms part of Southern Huntington Beach and is totally developed - needless to say that family doesn’t have to worry about putting food on the table.
