According to the Wrap, the actress received months of racist trolling, including an incident where her name on an online Star Wars encyclopedia was changed to Ching Chong Wing Tong.

It’s one thing to not like the movie, but for fans to take it out on the actors is ridiculous.

I dunno.... I still blame Burt Reynolds for appearing in Boogie Nights.

I have no idea why this particular actress would be cast. Honestly, why?
That being said, I wouldn’t harass her about it, but I wouldn’t go see a movie with inexplicable casting decisions either.
Casting decisions are important.

That's the issue. This woman is a nobody. She was hired because of a requirement in Chinese cinema where content must be certain amounts of CCP approved messages, anti-American themes and a content of Chinese actors. Hollywood is taken over by this. Now Tran isn't -actually- a chinese citizen. She's American. But her and her character don't belong. She doesn't belong on the posters and she's not a primary character. But they complied with CCP demands to make sales in China and double their ticket sales. Remember the Mission Impossible movies with that ridiculous Chinese chick who didn't even speak English ? Yeah, it's something they did to make the cut in China. And furthermore there are scenes in the Chinese versions (Like Transformers and Avengers) that actually change the storyline so that Chinese Government saves the world. Yes. That's Hollywood.

I thought it was one of his best movies.
More than that, it was an indictment of the porn industry.

Isn’t Tran a Vietnamese name?

I always liked Burt, in spite of his Alma Mater.

I think she is the erstwhile love interest for Finn in the movie.
Which reminds me. A Chinese acquittance told me the REAL reason why TLJ bombed in China was because the Chinese were kean on a romantic relationship between an Asian and an African Amerian onscreen. Even a budding one.

I actually liked her in the movie. She was a reasonably good actress, believable character.

Instagram is as much of a sewer as Twitter. You could get racist rants and death threats simply by posting a picture of a puppy or a kitten.

That’s right, he’s a ‘Bama kid.
One of my favorites. I’m jealous of you Southern Folk. You have a great culture and a beautiful piece of the country. The rivalries there are something special.
I once had a man I did business with ask me over lunch, ‘Bama or Auburn fan?’.
Guy was dead serious. I had done my research, and replied ‘Auburn.’ It was the last question he asked before signing the purchase order.
