Terminally ill patients may be granted the right to access and use investigational products (i.e., medications or treatments) that are not yet publicly available because they are being investigated by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA must be actively investigating the product, and it must have already passed Phase I of the approval process. This interactive map explores state laws that govern the criteria a patient must meet to be eligible to access the products. It also addresses insurance coverage for these investigational products, specifically whether insurers are required to pay for coverage, and whether patients may have to forfeit coverage or care if they choose to use Right to Try laws to access these treatments.

Check your state here for Insurance etc.

There’s actually so much good news out there but not enough people here posting the good stuff. I try but have a really bum wrist so it gets painful if doing that too long.

As someone who lives free of drugs and processed foods, I’m thrilled that those who choose to can now try experimental treatments/cures if they choose-your life belongs to you and God-not the FDA, big pharma, an MD or government. I don’t see any treatment as more of a risk, if you are facing certain death otherwise-it is your body and should be your choice...

Three years ago, I lost my employer and dearest friend to the side effects of chemotherapy-he agreed to chemo after he was unable to get into a test/study group for trial of an experimental treatment for his malignant brain tumor-he was dead within 5 months-I believe if he’d had that experimental treatment, it is possible he might have had more good time here-or maybe even be alive today...

..”It could generate so many snake oil peddlers selling hope to the terminally ill that it becomes impossible to weed through the garbage.”...

No.....

Under Right to Try laws, terminally ill patients may be granted the right to access and use....because they are being investigated by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

‘The FDA must be actively investigating the product’, and it must have already passed Phase I of the approval process.

......”They won’t have to wait while the FDA farts around for years doing “studies”. They will have legitimate test cases”....

True but it does need to be in Phase one testing....it’s not like a bunch of oil snake sellers can run their junk thru this process.

Like with Insurance Trumps bypassing what slows things down and goes straight to the Companies themselves. This has greatly irritated the Dems because in doing so he’s bypassing them as well

Denying something can be a much more effective way to control people than allowing something. RKBA is a prime example of this. The constitution guarantees you CAN have a gun. Legislation is around how to chip away and deny you the right to own a gun. Likewise, insurance covers the cost of medical treatment, but it says nothing about what type of treatment you will … or will not … get. Obamacare was all about forcing policies to include coverage for things like abortions on demand, and only to a lesser degree about ensuring everyone had basic coverage. Their goal was to promote social change and acceptance of morally questionable behavior by mandating inclusions in policies, then forcing everyone to have a policy that included the social engineering. If Obamacare had actually been about making sure everyone had coverage, they would not have loaded up the plans with costly social engineering requirements. Regarding right to try … by refusing to permit people to try, it served the official purpose of trying to avoid snake oil salesmen preying on desperate people, but it served the political purpose of ensuring that the herd was being thinned at the predetermined rate, and the election process of ensuring votes could be bought to protect treatments and drugs. One of the things about right to try is … if someone actually comes up with a cure for something, rather than just treatment, there is a much higher chance that it will see the light of day. Med device companies and drug companies really don’t want to cure anything … they want to treat it so that they can maximize their profits over time, so IMHO, they are not necessarily investing in cures. This could change all of that.

...”Best President of the 21st century so far”.....

At just 18 months in that certainly can be said...imagine what he’s going to do in the rest of his term and 2020 and beyond!

It’s fascinating how they seem to think that giving us freedom is a bad thing. At age 64 I simply know, personally, too many people who were literally saved by Gerson, medical marijuana and a host of other cures to take the AMA or FDA seriously any more.

Hopefully he’ll have a less idiotic Congress.

There are many “what if” stories out there .....unfortunately not all are going to be deemed capable of handling a new drug if they’re too far on the other side of it.

my best friends husband had a malignant brain tumor as well...it depends on the cluster if it’s like mashed potatoes, (hard to get it all), or like jelly beans ( better outcome.) It’s one of the hardest cancers to treat.

..”medical marijuana” and other medicinal uses of it is going to soon be legalized. Bills are in the pipeline.

Old Congress is still tying to figure out how they can retain their power and leverage without looking like the idiots they show us every day.

With legions of biased peddlers, Juice Plus & Univera et al will be around for decades...to state nothing of those who get sucked into self-medicating and believing they’re doing something right until they get a diagnosis like your friend.

Unfortunately most people will still buy into the whole “drug” thing to cure what ails them, oblivious to the fact that all those little symptoms are red flags that merit clinical analysis, not masking with chemicals.

Gerson method is one of many, but they basically all govern the same theme: Avoidance of the toxins which caused the symptoms in the first place.

Ironically, even the Gerson method is ignorant of the role of the gut...the enemas being but one example...but I have to get back to work.

Happy it worked for your friend!

I really like my governor, Matt Bevin, but this is one issue where he’s like a 1970’s conservative. He won’t even consider medical marijuana legalization in KY.

Yes, Gerson was developed a LONG time ago. I would think non-FDA/AMA has come a long ways since then. Medical marijuana was a real life saver for a friend with cancer. But that is another story.

As far as I’m concerned, the person with the terminal illness should be the only one deeming/deciding what they will handle-as long as they sign the consent forms, they should decide if they get the treatment or not-cut the personal injury lawyers off at the pass-they are a big part of the problem. That is the most personal decision in one’s life, and no one but that individual should be able to make it-just the opinion of this unrepentant rebel and believer in total personal liberty and responsibility.

My compadre knew his chances were not good-but at least the experimental treatment didn’t exhibit the ruinous side effects that chemo has-that is why he applied for the trial-it would have been a kinder exit, at least. The way he was bombarded with massive doses of chemo simply destroyed his body organ by organ-it was not a good way to go...
