Fox News’s Napolitano: Trump’s ‘Spygate’ claims are ‘baseless’
The Hill ^ | 05/30/2018 | Morgan Gstalter

Fox News's Andrew Napolitano said late Tuesday there is “no evidence” to support President Trump’s “Spygate” theory that the FBI planted spies during his 2016 presidential campaign.

Napolitano, the news network's senior judicial analyst, said on "The Story With Martha MacCallum" that Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, is making a “baseless” claim.

“The allegations by Mayor Giuliani over the weekend, which would lead to us believe that the Trump people think that the FBI had an undercover agent who inveigled his way into the campaign and was there as a spy on the campaign, seem to be baseless,” Napolitano said.

There is no evidence for that whatsoever, he added.

Giuliani suggested on Sunday that former President Obama and his top intelligence officials “knew” that the FBI had used a top-secret informant to allegedly spy on Trump’s campaign.

The FBI did use an informant, identified in media reports as American professor Stefan Halper, who met with three Trump campaign advisers in 2016 — George Papadopoulos, Carter Page and Sam Clovis.

No evidence has emerged, however, that the informant was used to spy on the campaign for political purposes.

Wow...lots of protesting about this “Spygate” thing. A nerve has definitely been struck in the DC Swamp.

Of course, the media will carry the water for The Establishment. In my estimation, the more the protest, the chances are greater that it’s true.

Sounds like there was an informant spying on the campaign; they claim it just wasn't "for political purposes."

We'll just have to take their word for it.

I sense a full court press by the Swampers in an effort to thwart the firing of Mueller after Horowitz releases his IG report.

This judge always wants to argue over semantics. Maybe he should have been watching a couple hours before when Hannity had on three people, that were there, who totally disagree with him.

It doesn’t matter what the talking heads say ... POTUS owns the issue and people believe HIM!

Well, if Judge Nap is correct about the narrow issue of informant vs. spy, how does he stand on the FISA warrants, or the entrapment of Papadopoulos by said informants to provide the excuse for said warants?

They’re slowly getting to everyone! See Trey Gowdy! The Deep State is just that...DEEP! Clapper basically admitted that this guy set up Trump’s campaign operatives. Sharyl Attkinson...please pick up the white phone...

As Seb Gorka pointed out, if this spying on the Trump campaign was because of “Russian meddling”, how many informants targeted the Hellary campaign, which claimed Russian attacks on its servers, and had several employees with known contacts with Russians?

In strictest terms..., perhaps true BUT, using "Assets" to set up entrapment targets is a well established technique! The end results are the same!

IOW, they were spying on the Trump campaign. Some people are stuck so high up the ivory tower that they think they have the authority to deny the vernacular meaning of a word. You know, what the word means to almost everyone.

Yep. My guess is they probably have something on the Judge. He’s been doing nothing but offering excuses for Mueller and the FBI for weeks - and he doesn’t even do it well, since it doesn’t come off as anything other than deep state propaganda.

Napolitano is a LOUD, POMPOUS BLOWHARD who presents himself as a Constitutional Scholar.
He is not. He is a former New Jersey Judge.

REAL constitutional lawyers like Giuliani, DeGenova, Dershowitz, Toensing, Mark Levine, etc. disagree with him often including on this subject.
Obnoxious loud blowhard.

I think latest abandonment of Trump by the GOPe is related to the upcoming shut down fight. The GOPe doesn’t want to go the mat to fund the wall. It’s that simple. So they’re trying to weaken his position ahead of that battle.

There is (so far) no evidence, and the Swamp is working overtime to make sure real Americans cannot find evidence of conspiracy, treason, and sedition - their ongoing attempted coup.
