FBI obtained wiretap conversations of Kremlin-linked banker who met with Trump Jr: report

The FBI has obtained wiretapped conversations of a Kremlin-linked banker who later met with Donald Trump Jr. during the 2016 presidential election.

Spanish national police provided the Bureau with tapes of Russian oligarch Alexander Torshin's phone calls with a convicted Russian money launderer, according to a special prosecutor from Spain's Attorney General's Office, Yahoo News reported.

“Just a few months ago, the wiretaps of these telephone conversations were given to the FBI,” according to the special prosecutor, José Grinda Gonzalez, speaking at the Hudson Institute on Friday.

Torshin, a close supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, briefly met with Donald Trump Jr. at the National Rifle Association's annual convention in Louisville, Ky., in May of 2016. Torshin was known to leverage his membership in the NRA for meetings with high-profile officials.

The oligarch is one of several with ties to Putin who were sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department last month to curb their business activities, under a law aimed at punishing Russia for its interference in the 2016 election.

Torshin is a longtime member of the NRA and one of 23 individuals with ties to Russia that the gun rights group has admitted to accepting donations from since 2015.

Gee, imagine that, a Russian with “ties” to the NRA

Compare/contrast that with foreigners having monetary “ties” to the Clintons and their “foundation”

Means FBI’s spying on Trump team was justified.

I imagine all Russian oligarchs and important Russian businessmen have ties to Putin. And is this guy even an oligarch? What is the press’s definition of oligarch?

“Torshin previously sought to set up a summit between Putin and President Trump in 2016 that never took place, and again tried to meet the president last year during his visit to the U.S. as part of the Russian delegation to the National Prayer Breakfast.”

Says he met briefly with Don Jr. AT the NRA convention. Sounds like this guy was trying to infiltrate the Trumps, unsuccessfully.

Is this supposed to be bad news for Trump? I don’t think so.

Insufficient chain of custody. Inadmissible.

This is Fake News Nonsense, has been floating a while. From the last link in the article:

http://thehill.com/homenews/news/382691-nra-accepted-donations-from-20-russian-linked-contributors

The National Rifle Association (NRA) disclosed in a letter to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) this week that it received contributions from 23 individuals with "links"(?) to Russia since 2015.

The letter, dated Tuesday and made public on Wednesday, stated that the gun rights group received just over $2,500 from those individuals, and that most of the money was from "routine payments," like membership fees. Some of the payments may have come from Americans living in Russia, the NRA noted.

The FBI in the hands of the wrong people is becoming a very scary organization.

A Russian banker talks on the phone with a convicted Russian money launderer. The Russian banker is an NRA member and Putin’s friend. The Russian banker networks at NRA meetings to meet people. The Spanish police wiretapped the Russian banker because they suspected the Russian banker of money laundering.

OK, so far. Stay with me.

The Russian banker tried twice to set up a summit between Trump and Putin. He failed twice. Next he allegedly met with Donald Jr. and the FBI has a tape of that alleged meeting. No word of what is on the tape. Possibly ordering salad with Russian dressing. It’s possible!

“The oligarch is one of several with ties to Putin who were sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department last month to curb their business activities, under a law aimed at punishing Russia for its interference in the 2016 election.”

He has been dubbed “oligarch” by Trump government.

Means Trump government has justified FBI’s spying operation.

The shifting of the goal posts is a desperate attempt to justify 1) politicizing the FBI and CIA; and 2) using them to spy on and undermine political opponents during an election.

So now, we are back to using anything as proof of “Russian Collusion.” If Trump or a member of his family was so much as in the same room, hell the same zip code, as anyone who ever shared so much as a phone call with Putin, that is proof of “Russian Collusion” and justification for police state actions.

Not really. I doubt that Torshin’s regular level membership and his free NRA tote bag got him much influence.

“briefly met with Donald Trump Jr.”
The actual article reads, “The FBI has obtained wiretapped conversations of a Kremlin-linked banker who later met with Donald Trump Jr. during the 2016 presidential election. “
The only wire taps they have are a conversation between Torshin and someone else they identify as a money launderer, time and place not specified, and content not specified that doesn’t link anything to Trump Jr. or has anything to do with the election. It is further muddied as it is coming from a special prosecutor from Spain. If this is the case, what has Spain got to do with the Trump Jr. conversation with Torshin no matter what was said or if it actually existed?

And making public, or allowing it to happen, information sensitive to our national security, which is what they are alluding to, the FBI is violating OPSEC/COMSEC directives that have been in place for decades. Trump SR needs to come down on them like a ton of bricks for policy and directive violations. And if the son of the president was determined inside the national interests by the FBI because of who he was having a conversation with and who he is, why wasn’t this “conversation” recorded and chaperoned?

And if all this is crap, which it looks to be from the how, who, and where, who is going to get thrown under the bus to be the “Gosh I’m sorry” guy that will heal all wounds? And if they do that, is the guilt trail going to be buried before it reaches the DNC and their private hit man Obama? Find the answers to these and other questions when the NY times next prints, if they have the capital to do it?
