The U.S. is affirming new findings from investigators linking the 2014 downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane to the Russian military.
The State Department said Thursday that it has "complete confidence" in the Dutch-led probe that determined Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 had been shot down using a missile launcher from a Russian anti-aircraft brigade.
Investigators announced findings from the long-running probe on Thursday, nearly four years after the plane carrying 298 passengers from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, went down over Crimea, a Ukrainian territory annexed by Russia.
"We recall the UN Security Council’s demand that 'those responsible … be held to account and that all States cooperate fully with efforts to establish accountability,'" State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement.
"It is time for Russia to cease its lies and account for its role in the shoot down."

Someone should look up the original thread on FreeRepublic when it happened. There were tweeted photos of the missile crew with grins in the selfie they took. The smoke was still in the air. They scrubbed the pics as soon as they realized it was civilians they shot down.
Yes, I did some reading on this incident recently. It stated that the shooters were bragging online until they realized they had shot down a civilian liner. They originally assumed they had shot down a military aircraft.

A review of the true facts shows more reason to suspect the Ukranians than the rebels or Russians.
They were talking about a different aircraft that was shot down 10 days earlier - an An-26 military plane.
In this case, they have roadside video of the missile vehicle convoy leaving the local area, with the tracked vehicles uncovered, and the unit symbology on the side of the vehicles. I’ve seen the video clips....plural (there were a number of folks who videoed the movement action).
The problem I see is that at least three-hundred GI’s from this Russian base who know the story and they have to be under intense pressure to keep their mouths shut. Eventually a couple will come out and point fingers at the actual people who were with the unit in the deployed stage and which officers were in charge.
Just like what happened when American navy shot down the Iranian civil airliner.
I don't think so. Check the date of the incident (7-17-14) against the date on this screenshot. The dates are the same.

Remember when it happened? Our trusted intelligence agencies swore that a damning video would be released within a week or so proving that the Russians murdered those people.
Of course, that didn’t exist.
