I agree with your assessment. Kazan identified several actors and writers who were Communists to the House Committee on Un-American Activities. You have to wonder if what Weinstein could reveal has to do with sexual perversion, particularly child molestation, or Satanic worship. The Left won the battle for Hollywood decades ago, so an exposure of leftism would be a big yawner.
Maybe these are productions he’s considering for his stint in the POKEy.

Yes I'm sure he was sending a message. I'll bet the pages in those books are so sticky that they have been bound together for a long time. He brought them to court in case they needed some DNA samples.
He thinks he's powerful and can threaten people with real power. If that's the case, he might find himself mysteriously dying in his cell.
He's a smart and powerful man. In the event that he loses in court, I imagine he will announce that he identifies as a woman and demand incarceration in a women's prison. He'd get it too. Most of his cellmates will be as happy with the arrangements as most of his actresses were.
As for bringing books when he turns himself in to police, I imagine there was an element of signaling, but I imagine he also expected to wait around a lot for no reason and wanted something to do. Police stations are dull places in the mornings.

Weinstein wants the same “deal” that Epstein got: he was allowed out of “jail” for up to 16 hours a day, 6 days a week. He only had to sleep in his “cell”, which was a private room that he furnished himself. He even was allowed to travel all over the nation and to other countries while “incarcerated.”
They pay big bucks for that but yes if he doesn’t get off he’ll get off one way or another.
