Giuliani reverses: Trump should interview with Mueller
The Hill ^ | 05/23/2018 | Jacqueline Thomsen

President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday that he believes that Trump should interview with special counsel Robert Mueller, in a reversal of his previous statements on the topic.

“I guess I’d rather do the interview. It gets it over with it, it makes my client happy,” Giuliani told The Washington Post. “The safe course you hear every lawyer say is don’t do the interview, and that’s easy to say in the abstract. That’s much harder when you have a client who is the president of the United States and wants to be interviewed.”

Giuliani has cast doubt on Trump interviewing with Mueller in the past. He told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Tuesday that if he were to make a decision on the interview in that moment, he would decide against it.

The former New York City mayor told The Post in the new interview that Trump has vacillated over whether or not he wants to interview with Mueller in the probe.

“There have been a few days where he says, ‘maybe you guys are right,’” Giuliani said, referring to members of Trump’s legal team who have warned him against talking with Mueller.

“Then he goes right back to, ‘why shouldn’t I?’” he added.

He also said that he was concerned that a Trump interview with Mueller could be set up to catch the president on a possible perjury charge because “truth is relative.”

“They may have a different version of the truth than we do,” Giuliani said.

Trump’s self confidence will be his downfall. He might as well as load the gun and hand it to Mueller and the rest of the coup plotters.

I like Rudy, but he has a tendency to talk first and think about it later.

If President Trump would agree to it, it would only take about 30 minutes of a practice session to illustrate the point that he shouldn’t agree to an interview.

So, in answer to “why shouldn’t I,” they should show him why.

I know this is not exactly a special counsel so perhaps it’s not the same, but I remember Ken Starr having to go before Congress periodically as part of their oversight. Is Mueller not subject to that? How come he doesn’t come before Congress as part of their oversight duties? What does the statute say as to Congress’s role in oversight of the special counsel?

He seems unaccountable to anyone. And don’t give me Rosenstein, it should be a judge, Congress someone other than the Justice department!!

To be honest I think Rudy's best days are behind him and he still does not appreciate that candid remarks are harvested and tossed back at his President as barbs in the next news cycle.

Even if the President is undecided about it, as his counselor and advisor you keep some things close to the vest.

Trump is not doing an interview.

This is the greatest rope a dope in the history of presidential politics.

Trump is toying with Mueller’s emotions and the emotions of every salivating leftist tard on the planet.

Cheshire grin engaged.

No.

A prosecutor wants to indict you.

I would never ever allow a client to be interviewed by a prosecutor.

But if its necessary to do it, all questions should be answered by invoking the 5th or by saying “I don’t remember” and “I don’t recall.”

Never say anything that might be a lie - that’s a perjury trap.

Trump should just tell Mueller to go p*ss up a rope.

Giuliani is not doing Trump any favors by changing his position every time we turn around.

Read the article. Rudy doesn’t want him to do it, but his client Trump wants to do the interview. Trump’s already canned two lawyers who didn’t want him to testify.
All Rudy can do at this point is prepare Trump as best he can.

I don’t understand why POTUS wants to do this against ALL advice. Praying he’s right.
