Unnamed sources told this to the WaPo, the CIA’s propaganda organ, so it must be true...
But Jong-Un has good reason to fear leaving his country, especially if the military leaders his dictatorship depends upon believe that he is making them vulnerable. Any relaxation of control in a totalitarian state like NK WILL lead to either a mega-brutal military re-imposition of state power, or the oligarchs’ flesh being ripped from their bones. NK’s ruling class is trapped in a corner with no where to go. What a shame.

...a simmering military revolt in North Korea are precisely the kind of thing that emboldened Kim to keep a tight grip on power over the years. So now he is presented as the moderate statesman that has to be in power just to prevent bad guys from taking the command. What a pile of Bravo Sierra.

Right. Some people now are starting to portray him as a reasonable guy who are holding off real bad guys. It is likely to be the other way around. There could be a small band of die-hard military types. But for the rest, taking on American military or PLA is not an attractive option.
