U.S. Marshal in Chicago leaves office without explanation

Chuck Goudie and the ABC7 I-Team were told by law enforcement sources two months ago that Gilmore's effectiveness as U.S. marshal was being questioned. Now he is out. An ABC7 I-Team Investigation By Chuck Goudie and Barb Markoff, Christine Tressel, Ross Weidner Tuesday, May 22, 2018 12:14PM CHICAGO (WLS) --

A little more than halfway into his term of office, the United States Marshal in Chicago Edward L. Gilmore has resigned suddenly and without explanation.

President Barack Obama nominated Gilmore in 2015 to fill the top federal law enforcement spot. He was sworn-in during a January 2016 ceremony in Chicago and began a four-year term.

Gilmore did not reply to I-Team messages and has not offered a public explanation for his early retirement that occurred on April 4. Despite having stepped down nearly seven weeks ago, his resignation was not widely known-even in federal circles. The departure had not been announced or reported until the ABC7 I-Team's revelation on Monday.

President Obama picked Gilmore from among three names provided by Illinois’ U.S. senators. On Monday a spokesman for Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) did not offer comment on the Gilmore resignation. In 2015, Sen. Durbin praised Gilmore’s “wealth of law enforcement and managerial experience.”

So, this guy was a place mat? No one noticed that he was gone? We have a whole Senate made up of place mats.

Must be another/different way to describe this guy’s position - there are lots of U. S. Marshals. What made this one so special he rated a news story? Oh! Perhaps without saying so, he was the HEAD HONCHO? Got it. I think!

“In 2015, Sen. Durbin praised Gilmore’s “wealth of law enforcement and managerial experience.”

If Durbin endorsed him you know he was a steamer.

I remember Festus and Miss Kitty praising Marshall Dillon in just about every show for his “wealth of managerial experience”.

“Edward Gilmore will bring a wealth of law enforcement and managerial experience to the position of U.S. Marshal,” said Durbin. “His knowledge and experience will be a great asset to the Northern District. It was an honor to recommend Edward’s name to President Obama and I look forward to voting for his confirmation in the Senate.”

“NEW MARSHAL IN TOWN — U.S. Senators Mark Kirk, R-Ill., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., announced that the Senate unanimously confirmed Edward Gilmore to serve as U.S. Marshal in the Northern District of Illinois.”

For those that don’t know. Kirk is a RINO and backed his Democrat pal, Durbin on most every legislation. Kirk was voted out of office when Conservatives intentionally skipped his name on the ballot.

There are 96 US Marshals throughout the country - one for each judicial district. They are all political appointees and usually are gone when a new President is in place.

Wyatt Earp wouldn’t need Durbin’s praise.

Marshall Dillon had been a Grunt with the 3rd ID and was seriously wounded at Anzio, Bronze Star...
Festus did a couple of years US Army WWII.
Miss Kitty’s background is a bit obscured.
