House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes said Monday that he will refuse to meet again with the Justice Department until officials release documents he has requested about the Russia investigation.
Nunes subpoenaed the Justice Department and threatened to hold officials in contempt of Congress if they refuse to release files regarding a confidential FBI informant who spoke to Trump campaign associates in 2016 about Russian election meddling. The California Republican said he and his colleague Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) had a “productive” meeting with DOJ officials a few weeks ago but ignored a Friday invite to meet again when they found out they would not be receiving the documents they wanted.
“We’re not going to go to another meeting where we don’t get documents, and then the meeting leaks out,” Nunes said Sunday on Fox News.
The confidential FBI source was reported last week to be Stefan Halper, 73, a Cambridge professor and veteran of the Nixon, Ford, and Reagan administrations.

As long as Sessions is recused. Could you give me an example where the DOJ appears to be Republican friendly lately?
The deep state got outsmarted here....looks like they leaked to the Times & the Post before the meeting & Nunes & Gowdy got wind of it. It was too late to pull back the leak so the good guys did not get the story pinned on them.

Why just today, Dianne Feinstein castigated Trump for thinking that they worked for him. She said they are an independent agency.
Justice--in the form of the judicial system--should be impartial; but enforcement of the laws is a charge of the executive branch. Theoretically.
Yeah, I think that put Trump over the top with this stunt! Funny thing was that they screwed that up and can’t set up Nunes, but must have got their wires crossed with their co-conspirators in the press. ALL of the people in that meeting should be fired and investigated immediately. I predict Rosenstein will resign and Trump’s calling him down on his illegal approval of the FISA warrant. This is war! Liberals always overplay their hand!
Nunes seems to know what he is dealing with. The set-up prior to the meeting was that leaking Halper’s name would be dangerous. Then they would blame the leak on Nunes and Gowdy and have them investigated for a year like they did to Scooter Libby. Halper was already known as a possible mole. People at the DOJ are scared.
What does “contempt of Congress” do?
Yes...which leaves me wondering if this was all a setup pulled off by Trump, Nunes, and Gowdy somehow! I always believed Trump et al know WAY more about this than their letting on! Me thinks someone got smoked out big time!
Ask Eric Holder. He earned that title, didn’t seem to change anything.

Halper’s name was leaked earlier in the day prior to the meeting. They knew the set-up was coming.

That's not what they asked for. They asked for the document(s) that started the investigation. None has been provided.
Nothing, now. It used to have teeth.
Now, it is just a referral to the DOJ, who allows a judge to determine whether to prosecute. And the crime itself is a misdemeanor that hasn’t been punished for decades.
Statement from Press Secretary:
Based on the meeting with the President, the Department of Justice has asked the Inspector General to expand its current investigation to include any irregularities with the Federal Bureau of Investigations or the Department of Justices tactics concerning the Trump Campaign. It was also agreed that White House Chief of Staff Kelly will immediately set up a meeting with the FBI, DOJ, and DNI together with Congressional Leaders to review highly classified and other information they have requested.
Those cowards in Congress should be calling for the investigation. Useless.
