Accused Santa Fe HS shooter Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, won’t face the death penalty if he is convicted of capital murder, and could be paroled when he’s 57, thanks to two US Supreme Court rulings.

A 2005 decision made it unconstitutional for anyone under 18 at the time of their crime to face execution, and a 2012 ruling outlawed life without parole.

Thanks to our stupid Supremes, a killer who is 17 years and 11 months old can kill as many people as he wants and does not have to worry about the death penalty. When he hits the magic age of 18, he can be sentenced to death. Does this make sense?

“Even a 17½-year-old who sets off a bomb in a crowded mall or guns down a dozen students and teachers is a ‘child’ and must be given a chance to persuade a judge to permit his release into society.” - Alito’s dissent in Miller v. Alabama.

Public stocks where people can ridicule and throw things at him would be a good option

It would also be a great deterrent to future young mass shooters who think they will achieve some kind of fame from it

The liberal progressive social justice school system believes they can cure mental illness by being inclusive, put the student in normal surroundings and medicate. They want the school experience to be fair tale like and refuse to protect your children properly. irresponsible parents, carelessness, abuse, “let someone else deal with this” I don’t have the time or patience attitude. School security guidelines that ALL schools must follow! There has to be a law with guidelines that dictate mandatory steps and prosecution if not followed

Waiting for death penalty for 19 year old Nicholas Cruz. Been two months waiting for prosecutors.

We really need to make it a lot easier to remove Federal judges from office. If their rulings are law, and there is no easy way to counteract their rulings, they are effectively kings.

Pagourtzis was charged with capital murder but is not eligible for execution. However because of changes in Texas law, at 17, he is too young to be given the death penalty. So although he’s an adult and will be prosecuted as an adult, he is not eligible for execution. He’s also too young to be given life without parole.

But despite the fact he can get life with parole, the chances of Dimitrios ever getting out of prison are slim. He can, though, get a life sentence for every one of those murders and it is called a stacked sentence. It would result in something like 300 years to be served consecutively. The effective result is that he will likely never get out of prison. So, although he can’t technically be sentenced to life without parole, ultimately that will be the net effect of so many deaths.

Many times that is worse than death as he will be put in with real cons and they will do a variety of things to him to possibly include murdering. It all works out in the wash. Any life he knew is now gone.

............yes!............too many of today’s teachers are blithering, liberal air heads and NEA members. Just as these DA’s know that STOP written on a little red sign means STOP they need to be made to understand by new LAWS that a certain CODE of conduct and security rules will be enforced in the school whether their little liberal assed mind likes it or not.

Starting with......”this coach and former marine is going to carry a Glock 19 all day whether you like it or not DA!!! Get used to it! You have nothing to say about it. STFU!! America is sick of you!!!

A 17 year old boy can’t receive the death penalty, but, according to liberals, a 17 year old girl should be able to carry out the death penalty for a baby in the womb without parental notification.

If circumstance, judgement, reason and prudence are not allowed in the courtroom, ya gotta draw the line somewhere. Same reasoning applies to abortion.

It’s sad when convicted violent felons have a better sense of justice than the gods in black robes.

Maybe, they can tag on a lot of other charges to add on to his time. They are talking with another or even 2 other people. Conspiracy, whatever other charges can arise.

There IS honor among thieves. He would not survive a week in GP. Once the other inmates figured out who he is, they would take him out. The only other alternative, is permanent Ad Seg. He will die of boredom there.

I know too well the pain of unrequited love and how it distorts one’s view, coupled with the public (yet deserved) humiliation of being rejected in class and I think this kid is not insane at all, just enraged and hopeless.

I never wanted to murder people but, oh boy, did I want to murder myself. Christ found me instead.

He may not get the death penalty but, maybe worse, the realization that he’s thrown away his entire young life for this one act of vengeance which he will come to regret as he sits in solitary for endless month after month.

Personally, I’m pro Death Penalty and would not be upset if he was tried as an adult and someday executed for his crimes but I can also sleep well knowing this guy is going to have to live with the guilt of his deeds for the rest of his life and the knowledge he can’t ever undo it.

Parents who have a child that is mopey, depressed, unchallenged or morose *ought* to see the warning signs and make sure the gun cabinet is locked and that the kids have no knowledge of where the keys are kept.

Parents of harassed children ought also to notify schools or police of the possibility that the child could be violent so they can be alerted and perhaps intervene.

I liked the suggestion of one police department/school district who solved a desk shortage for their officers by basing an officer in every school. Through modern communications, he could continue his neighborhood beat but, as an added bonus, he would be walking the hallways as a “free” deterrent to potential active shooters and become a first responder/role model should anything erupt at the school.

I still believe that an appropriate sentence for someone like this guy is M.O.D. Mandatory organ donor. If he took the lives of 10 people thEN his organs would well be harvested to save the eyesight or lives of as many others as as possible.
