‘This is why people HATE YOU.’ POLITICO’s hit piece on Hillsdale College BACKFIRES spectacularly

You know those stories that make you roll your eyes so far back in your head you think they might get stuck there?

This hot mess from POLITICO is one of those stories:

From POLITICO (sorry!):

Maybe you’ve never heard of Hillsdale. Or maybe you hadn’t heard about the school before it precipitated a floor fight in the Senate during tax bill negotiations last fall. But the tiny Christian college with a graduate school in statesmanship, a strong conservative bent and roots in an anti-slavery Baptist church, has long been a treasured institution in right-of-center circles—known for its required classical liberal arts curriculum, its commitment to a principled conservatism, and its outreach in Washington, D.C.

What’s happened to Hillsdale lately reflects the compromises conservative institutions across the country have made following Donald Trump’s 2016 victory: They’ve accommodated themselves to the president.

POLITICO got the conservative part right except Hillsdale College has always been conservative and hasn’t changed it’s conservatism not one bit since Trump has became president, in fact they are probably more conservative then Trump ever has been. On the other had it being a Christian College that is news to me. But maybe it still has links the the American Baptist not sure about that though. Either way students don’t go there because it is a Christian College if it is one, they go there because it is a very find Conservative College.

Best yet, it doesn’t take federal funding including student loans

Yup. Rush often talks about this place.

I've thought that if I win the $500 million Powerball Lottery, I'd fund a campus of this university in the southern US.

While the thought gives a warm glow, not sure about them setting up another campus, they have enough problems just dealing with the Educrats on the state and Federal levels.

As for support, my late parents and I have been working towards an endowed full-year scholarship at Hillsdale. This is in the area of a capital sum of the mid $400k range and has been in the funding for the past decade as we/I chip away at it. This is very important with the 'no Federal Funding' translating to no Fed-backed student loans which is almost universal in normal college financing.

”Best yet, it doesn’t take federal funding including student loans.”

Which means, most importantly, that Hillsdale is not beholden to Title IX and all the lunacy and B.S. that accompanies it. Hillsdale is a sole beacon amidst all the Marxism and progressivism that afflicts University education.

There is only one other college that refuses federal student loans — Grove City College in Pennsylvania. We’ve had two friends whose children attended Grove City. It’s not as politically influential as Hillsdale but the young adults still get a fantastic education there as well.

I donate to Hillsdale occasionally. I also gat their newsletter, after Daryl Issa signed me up for it for volunteering on Republican campaigns. That was a while ago.

The Hillsdale Alumni Assn. pays half the tuition to every student accepted there.

What’s your take on Liberty University. I think they do participate in Title IX.

We lived near there a long time ago. During those years, the president of the school was having an affair with his daughter in law or some such. I can’t remember exactly. Other than that, I’ve heard only good things about the place.

I can’t remember the who. It was quite the scandal for the small town. But I don’t think it made national news then the way it probably would now.

“This is why people HATE YOU.”

Leftists want to lecture about “hate speech” and even base laws on the concept, but their hatred is nearly always blatant in their speech.

. On the other had it being a Christian College that is news to me.

Just visited the school in March with my son. They are not a religious institution, but they fully recognize and promote the impact Christianity has had on the founding and development of our country. They are currently building a massive church in the center of campus to further reinforce the importance of the Christian faith.

My dad, a long time donor, joined us on the visit and proudly wore his 82nd Airborne hat. The students lined up to thank him for his service in the union, and he was constantly stopped and thanked as we toured the campus. The Dean even came out of his office to talk about his time in the 101st Airborne. Great school, great students and great environment.

I just looked up this whole story about the affair and what-not. No one ever knew for sure if there were really an affair or if the daughter in law was crazy. Interesting story.

Hillsdale is the only beneficiary named in my will. Their principled stance against the Federal racket is unparalleled. If they taught nothing else, this alone would be worth the cost of tuition, but the Imprimis and free online courses are also wonderful outreaches. Federal funding and Title X has destroyed college in this country.

Oh, YES, ME Too! I wonder what the cost is to go to Hillsdale College? I should check that out. They probably have a waiting list a mile long even if you could afford to send a child, or grandchild there.
