A wish for success at Trump-Kim summit in Singapore (Editorial)

Though there isn't much of anything that can bring the politically divided American people together these days, the upcoming meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un should be an exception. Democrats and Republicans and independents alike must stand together, rooting for success.

And if Trump pulls off the heretofore unthinkable and manages to get Kim to dismantle his nuclear weapons and missile programs, entirely and verifiably, then he deserves much more than a grudging tip of the hat from his opponents and detractors. Rather, his achievement, should it come to pass, must be recognized for the stunning success it would be....

I wonder if the back-channel contacts with the NORKS have convinced Lil’ Kim that he is at substantial risk of becoming a casualty should he continue his nuclear course. He had nothing to fear for eight years, but now appears frightened. Unlike the Iranian Mullahs to whom death-by-Infidel means paradise, he values his own existence.

I think the Chinese leader read him the riot act on these last two visits. They’ll probably give him exile once reunification takes place.

There is also a school of thought that China doesn’t want a unified Korea which is effectively South Korea on its border.
