What I would like to see (but liberal Israelis would protest) is the call up of all reserves and be ready for a strong offensive if needed. Then bomb Assad and take him out. Syrian chaos would really fall apart fast. Plus Sunni Iraqis behind the Iranians will strike them as they retreat out of Syria.
I put this completely on Obama. He allowed Iran to go into Iraq and through to Syria and gave them billions for missiles to fire.
I fault not Israel when they bomb an Iranian base in Syria offloading missiles, rocket launchers, etc etc not for the Syrian Civil War put offensively against Israel.
Who knows after Trump, the ME may turn westernized like in the 70s before the Islamist’s overran them.
