I wish I could buy a modern "weapon of war" without the onerous and expensive un-Constitutional infringements of obtaining a Class III license. That's what the 2nd Amendment was written to protect.

AR-15s are not used by the military but let's be very clear about one thing ... the 2nd Amendment was specifically created to protect civilian ownership of military grade weapons. "Weapons of war."

Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Here are quotes from two Democrats, before the Dem Party became the Hate America Party, that speak specifically to the premise of civilians using arms for war...

"By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia,' the 'security' of the nation, and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms,' our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason I believe the Second Amendment will always be important."

President John F. Kennedy

---------------------------------------------------

"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible."

Vice President and Senator Hubert H. Humphrey

The primary reason for the 2nd Amendment was to protect the citizen's right to own and use weapons of war to fight, as civilians, any threat to our sovereignty foreign or domestic.

POINT IS;
What is the percentage of crimes committed using firearms purchased in this manner?
Better still how many crimes have been committed using ARstyle firearms purchased in this manner?

In the video shot by his campaign, Helmer, an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran, does not identify the specific gun model he purchases, but calls it “functionally similar” to the weapon he used while serving in the military.

They’re selling select-fire rifles at gun shows? Which gun show? What address? Do you have their schedule? Or is it just a semi-auto, but he was such a doof that while everyone else had select fire, a semi was all they trusted him with?

“.....Democrats will be shamelessly lying....”?

Those rancid reprobates are totally incapable of telling even the simplest of truths. IF they were to stop lying, they would go mute. 100%. Guaranteed.

I wonder if Virginia is one of those states? If not, I’m sure that any citizen could send that video to their local DA and get that ball rolling.

Helmer graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and was deployed to Iraq in 2004. As the only Arabic speaker in his battalion, he served as an assistant intelligence officer before studying international relations at Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship.

In Texas you are exempt from the FBI background if you are a LTC holder. The reason for this is because the response a dealer gets from the FBI is either no record found or see FBI file. If it is the latter the purchase is held for further investigation. As all LTC holders now have an FBI file it delays the purchase and negates the purpose of an instant background check. States that issue LTCs can opt out of the FBI check if the desire which is what Texas has done. Accordingly, here if you present a LTC when purchasing a firearm, the dealer will more likely than not tell you you do not need a background check. They just aren't telling you that the reason is because you already passed one.

Clearly, someone needs to remind prospective politician Helmer that the government is a servant, not a master.

Which all goes to prove that the military has gun grabbing a$$holes same as the police and the general population. Those of you who’ve been telling yourselves that the military would never violate the constitution and round up weapons take note.

The “loophole” is one that citizens have had since the beginning of time. It’s called a private sale. Because it occurred at a gun show has absolutely nothing to do with it.

It is just another step to total disarmament. If they can ban one type of gun because it LOOKS like a military weapon, they can ban them all.

They are sure the wholesale murder of the unborn is protected somewhere in the Constitution but they can’t seem to be able to wrap their minds around what “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” means.

"functionally similar" to the weapon he used while serving in the military.

You pull the trigger and it goes "bang"

That is functionally similar.

My Father “gifted” me a .22 Bolt Action Rifle and a .410 Single Shot Shotgun when I was eight Years Old.

That was back in the early 60’s when we had a Civil Society and Democrats were more like Hubert Humphrey than Joe Stalin.

I’ve owned Firearms for over 55 Years and I have killed one less Person than Ted Kennedy did using his Oldsmobile and four less People than Hillary Clinton did due to her incompetence.
