The Rev. Al Sharpton will host a town hall meeting in Mobile on Tuesday to discuss the controversial arrest of a black woman in a Saraland Waffle House.
The woman, Chikesia Clemons, who was charged with of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, will also appear on "PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton" on MSNBC on Sunday morning.
The town hall with Sharpton, Clemons and civil rights attorney Ben Crump is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1. It will be held at the Bethel AME Church at 714 Savannah Street in Mobile.
Clemon's April 22 arrest was captured on graphic video that went viral on social media. The video shows three white Saraland police officers aggressively arresting Clemons. They place her on the floor, and her breasts were exposed as the officers attempted to handcuff her.
Crump, who is representing Clemons, said in a press conference that Clemons was "assaulted," "choked," and "brutalized," by law enforcement. He said it was a "racially motived" attack.
Clemons' claims the incident started over a dispute over plastic utensils.
In an April 25 press conference, Crump claimed witnesses said Clemons did not appear to be drunk and was speaking clearly and concisely before and after officers arrived. They also said that police officers entered the premises and went for Clemons immediately, before slamming her to the floor, threatening to break her arm and then arresting her.
Saraland police said in an April 23 press conference that the actions of the officers were justifiable.
Waffle House also supported the actions of the police.
Investigators from Saraland Police Department presented video evidence and witness testimony from the scene during the press conference. The video included limited camera angles from inside the restaurant but did not show the suspect being wrestled to the floor.
Police also played a 911 call placed from the restaurant that morning, where the caller said three people had entered the establishment with alcohol and were acting "drunk and disorderly." They had been asked to leave, the caller said.
Saraland Detective Mims, who didn't give his first name, said Clemons and another woman, Canita Adams, who were told to leave the restaurant and returned. When they returned they shouted abuse at the Waffle House employees. Witnesses, who included six employees and one customer, told police that the two women were loud and used profanities toward employees.
In the viral video, which shows the full arrest of Clemons, an officer can be heard saying he would break her arm. Detective Collette Little, Saraland's Public Information Officer, said that it was common that the force used to arrest a person could cause an injury. "The statement was made as cause and effect statement rather than a threat."

It took three cops to subdue her .... must have been a real porker! The last thing you need, lady, is another damn waffle !
Somehow it usually involves food: being served a cheeseburger instead of a hamburger, being served medium fries instead of large, etc. In this case she wanted special plastic utensils which cost 50 cents. Instead of shrugging her shoulders and skipping the plastic spoons or just paying the price, she chose to ch***out.
We've seen this behavior countless times before, countless videos. Fat entitled welfare queens assaulting food service personnel and destroying property.
