As for Trump wanting to sit down with Mueller; why would he want to legitimize an illegal witch hunt and sit down with Mueller as the ascendant party.
Mueller can interpret whatever he wants to in any manner he wants to and it will be hailed as inviolate.
When he hears this will Mueller break out into a sweat, clutch his teddy bear and shout over and over: “Sessions is out to get me!”

Trump really screwed up with his Sessions appointment.
The DOJ is the political brain and nervous system of the US Government. An absolute ally and faithful political partner must be appointed, to at minimum, protect the President from obvious political attacks from within his own government, of the type Mueller has organized.
JFK appointed his brother, Clinton had Reno, Reagan had Meese and Obama had faithful (and black) fellow-travellers Holder and Lynch, who even organized domestic political-agitation campaigns for him.
Trump appointed the Deep State Mr. Magoo. FAIL.
