U.S. weekly jobless claims fall to lowest level since 1969

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) - New applications for U.S. unemployment benefits dropped to their lowest level in more than 48 years last week, suggesting that March's slowdown in job growth was probably temporary.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell 24,000 to a seasonally adjusted 209,000 for the week ended April 21, the lowest level since December 1969.

I wonder how many of these former unemployed people got jobs that otherwise would have gone to the illegals.

I know ICE has been rounding them up.

The participation rate will logically lag behind unemployment given the horrific numbers we have seen for a decade. As more jobs become available with higher wages it will begin moving in a positive direction.

The economic performance of this administration has been nothing short of AMAZING.

What makes this even more important was the full scale draft for the Nam war that was going on in the late 1960’s.

Thousands of able bodied guys volunteered each month for the Navy or Air Force and National Guard to avoid the draft and going to Nam. They did that to avoid the draft before their numbers came up.

That took people out of the job market big time and decreased the % of so called unemployed to very low levels.
