There were kids grew up watching his shows, loving him like only a TV Dad is loved, wanting to emulate him. If he did do this, he is seriously mental. Throwing away a reputation that it took a lifetime to build is nuts.

Cosby isn’t a conservative. He regularly supported libetalcauses and democrats, including Barack Obama. Throughout the 70s and 80s, he regularly hung out at the Playboy mansion. He occasionally made public statements in favor of personal responsibility

Bill Cosby said that young blacks should stop living the hoodlum lifestyle and learn to speak proper English. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have sometimes said similar things, but nobody thinks of Jackson or Sharpton as "conservatives," so I have no idea of how people get the notion that Cosby is a conservative hero being attacked by liberals.

the allegations are simply too numerous and too similar for me to discount.

Agree. If the claims were made by one woman or by a group of women who were mutually acquainted, I could buy it being some conspiracy to extort money from Cosby. The notion that dozens of women unknown to one another are attempting to do so goes beyond implausible.

Predators like Cosby like the thrill of the hunt, the capture, and the rapacious ending.

Seems like prosecutors are taking the low road. It is sad, but I don’t trust most of them these days.

I’ve always been kind of conflicted about this whole thing.

I don’t think that Cosby has ever been a saint; but I think that a lot of women ‘back in the day’ willingly agreed to sketchy situations or put themselves in risky ones for what they thought they may have been able to gain by association with a rich and powerful man.

Don’t know about this Constand one. Hard to figure out, if you weren’t a ‘fly on the wall’. Especially hard when so much time has gone by.

At any rate, it’s not a good idea to drink wine and take pills you don’t know anything about, when alone with a man you DON’T want to sleep with inside his private residence...

Isn’t there a point where women have to take some responsibility for themselves?

My attitude towards Cosby is much the same as my attitude towards Harvey Weinstein. Both are sleazy sexual predators - Cosby is probably the worse of the two since there's no reason to doubt so many independent stories of his use of drugs to make the whole conquest process easier for him. That being said, most of the women involved probably aren't the naive, innocent victims that they make themselves out to be. If they were, they would have reported sexual assault to the police years earlier instead of going to the media years later. In reality, most knew what they were getting into, went along with it to advance their careers, and felt dirty and guilty about it afterwards.

I’m not buying the ‘dirty and guilty’ stuff, because that would be a reason to continue to keep it to oneself.

They waited so long to tell about these incidents that I can’t help but think the prospect of a payout is a main motivator.

Most of this thread is in support of drugged rape of women, calling it seduction or normal male female interaction. It’s so thoroughly disgusting the fact that these men make up the majority of Free Republic makes me want to not donate and go elsewhere soon. Please tell me I am wrong.

There is no way Cosby is innocent or a victim here. If he weren’t famous you all would know he was a serial rapist of the worst kind. Even if the woman asked for the quaalude, if freeper men think it is ok to play with the unconscious body, ejaculating all over it, then I am definitely in the wrong place. That isn’t freedom.

"I usually buy them a few drinks to strip them of their ability to say No. (Ducking)."

is that before or after you have to take your Viagra to get it "up"?...

btw, you're pretty much a idiot, making fun of rape victims...

someday maybe it'll happen to you ....
