Canadian man lynched over shaman's death in Peru

LIMA, Peru -- A 41-year-old Canadian who traveled to Peru to study hallucinogenic medicine was killed by a mob in a remote corner of the Amazon rain forest after people blamed him for the slaying of an elderly shaman, authorities said Sunday. Peru's attorney general's office said Sebastian Woodroffe was dragged by the neck shortly after the killing of Olivia Arevalo, an octogenarian plant healer from the Shipibo-Konibo tribe of northeastern Peru.

I never have,and never will,set foot in any country or region where Spanish is the predominant language.I've set foot in a Portuguese speaking country and came very close to regretting it deeply (crime ridden).

I have read that in many of the Amazon tribes, death is always believed to be caused by “witchcraft” and not natural. So when someone dies someone else is murdered for causing it.

Actually, there is an aversion, the opposite of addiction, that often comes with hallucinogens. Because sometimes what one sees while hallucinating is scary. People have gone into various shades of insanity from taking them.
