Gupta to Jeff Sessions: Medical marijuana could save many addicted to opioids
CNN Fake News ^ | 24 April 2018 | Dr. Sanjay Gupta

Posted on 04/24/2018 4:07:27 AM PDT by Magnatron

Dear Honorable Jeff Sessions,

I feel obligated to share the results of my five-year-long investigation into the medical benefits of the cannabis plant. Before I started this worldwide, in-depth investigation, I was not particularly impressed by the results of medical marijuana research, but a few years later, as I started to dedicate time with patients and scientists in various countries, I came to a different conclusion.

Not only can cannabis work for a variety of conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and pain, sometimes, it is the only thing that works. I changed my mind, and I am certain you can, as well. It is time for safe and regulated medical marijuana to be made available nationally. I realize this is an unconventional way to reach you, but your office declined numerous requests for an interview, and as a journalist, a doctor and a citizen, I felt it imperative to make sure you had access to our findings.

Mr. Sessions, there is an added urgency, as we are in the middle of a deadly opioid epidemic that has been described as the worst self-inflicted epidemic in the history of our country.

The drug overdose scourge claimed about 68,000 US lives in 2017, just over 45,000 of them from opioids alone. Every day, 115 Americans die from opioid overdoses. It has fueled a decline in an entire country's life expectancy and will be remembered as a sad and tragic chapter in our collective history.

These are desperate times, and while some may consider making medical marijuana widely available to be a desperate measure, the evidence has become increasingly clear of the important role cannabis can have.

Dr. Gupta, it’s going to be tough to get Jeff’s attention. He’s all wrapped up investigating and rooting out Deep State corruption, you know...

...I think?

I do not see how replacing one addiction with another is an improvement.

I've heard that smoking marijuana helps cure cancer and heal the planet.

Or it could lead to opioid addiction. It depends on which direction you’re coming from.

I would side with your theory. Get hooked on smoking dope can lead some people into looking for better or different highs.

I knew lots of pot heads back in the 60s-70s. Marijuana can be psychologically addicting. But it is not physically addictive. The opioids that doctors seem to be dispensing like candy are. I don’t condone normal marijuana use but controlled in strength and dispensed in a non smoking form for people with chronic pain could be a way to go.

Marijuana most certainly is addicting.

I can’t help but wonder if at least some portion of the opioid epidemic is due to the push to legalize marijuana.

Yeah, might as well add alcohol, and cigarettes, and give them some electronic devices with war games to help them skip out of reality.

I guess I don't go to the dr. enough because mine has never given away opiates “ like candy”.. Any facts to support opiates being dispensed “ like candy’ or are you propagating a rumor you heard? Its the street drugs that are the problem, and a few folks being caught with prescription drugs that aren't their own and a few unscrupulous MD’s given the rest of the world a bad impression. As for marijuana helping with pain I admit IDK, never tried it for pain. is it a gateway drug? so is coffee, I want a cigarette with every cup or with every beer, but I don't want dope with my cigarette or anything else.

Did you READ my post ?
I wrote:

Opioid addiction is physical and causes physical pain when removed.

These are 10s of thousands and more people legally addicted to the $h!t the doctors are now pushing.

There is a connection between schizophrenia (triggering psychosis) and marijuana usage. If one is prone, read up!

Amen. It does however make opioids less effective and requires the use of substances such as ketamine if regular users have an injury or surgery. But at least they are t using opioids......

I heard an interesting stat yesterday regarding opioids; Drs are writing less scripts than ever before, while at the same time opioid ODs are skyrocketing. So the crackdown has done two things; people who need opioids are being denied while addicts are turning to more deadly synthetics.

Corelation is not causation, or are you new here?
