Trump knew the key to North Korea was China. It is pretty obvious that the sanctions hurt badly and for the first time..... they cannot look to China to get around the sanctions.
I am pretty sure President Xi yanked the leash because he believed Trump would act and that is in neither the interest of China or the U.S. The wildcard in this whole thing was the increasing militarization and the flirtation with becoming a nuclear power by Japan - moves that Trump may have indicated he would support. China, with good reason, does not want a militarized Japan or a militarized Korean Peninsula. Kim overplayed his hand bigly.
I think those are reasoned thoughts. I wouldn’t argue with any of it. There may be some issues there that may need a bit of tweaking, but it’s probably as good or better than any other attempt would be.
Yep. China cannot afford to wage a financial/trade war against us as we are their biggest customer and their entire economy is built on the edge of a razor that is sitting half off the edge of a cliff.
I believe that Jin overplayed the Kim hand bigly, Kim is not his own boss, even a little. That is probably why the climbdown could be so rapid. The Kims waving their arms had and have Chinese fingers inside.
We don’t really know all that and Kim still has nuclear weapons.. He’s just not testing them now. I support Japan developing nukes to check China and maintain some balance with a nuclearized NORK.
