Oil and Gas Sales to Syria's Assad Are Propping Up ISIS

Revenues from oil and gas sold to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad are now the largest source of funds for the Islamic State (ISIS), as the militant group faces mounting military pressure in both Iraq and Syria.

The Wall Street Journal reports that officials from the U.S. and Europe said the Assad regime, despite pronouncements that it is fighting the extremist group, is directly supporting ISIS through the purchase of energy, needed to power the Syrian capital Damascus and other parts of the country.

Amos Hochstein of the U.S. State Department told the Journal that the group’s “revenue and energy generation is being supported by the Syrian regime.” Syria’s state-owned energy company and oil ministry have previously denied purchasing gas and oil from ISIS and did not respond to the new allegations, the Journal reports.

complete poppycock. These people are the most notorious liars in history, and they never give up. Assad is not funding Obama’s army; allegations, allegations, allegations. Soon we will get the results on the “chemical” attack. The neo-con neo-lib deep state wants more and more war and a nice new sunni pipleine through Syria.

Makes sense. Assad is funding the terrorists who are fighting to overthrow him.

I think we’re at the point where the Deep State is making up such insane crap just to see what they can get people to believe.

Kurds have been reporting for years and providing evidence that Assad oil workers are still on payroll pumping the stuff at ISIS refineries and wells. This is not new at all

” officials from the US and Europe”
Uh huh
Assad is funding his regime’’s mortal enemy
Pull whose finger?

For many years ISIS was selling captured Syrian oil to Turkey while we did nothing but drop bombs on empty desert and threaten CENTCOM analysts to write fake BDA reports
Then Russia came in and started blasting convoys of ISIS oit tankers
And cut off the revenue

Now Its no coincidence that half or more of ISIS operates in areas where are the syrian oilfields ( to where we evacuated them safely out of Raqqa) and where we have bases and threaten the SAA when they try to conduct ant-ISIS operations
That situation is going to be a major blow up. Soon. As the SAA and Russia continue to take down ISIS

This is another excuse for deposing Assad. If our true concern were only ISIS, we could attack the oil sources or sell the Syrians the oil they desperately need, undercutting what ISIS charges. Do we expect the Syrians to let their economy collapse because of a civil war that McCain and his allies have been feeding?

Since the Deep State got some of the more gullible citizens to buy off on the Warren Commission Report it realized just about any other lie could be sold them.

I have yet to have a Believer to explain what motive Assad had to make this “attack. No one has any doubt that he has used and would use such attacks but he does so when he calculates there is some advantage to him. This is guaranteed to alarm the world and make it more anti-Assad. That is the only certainty about this.

It's not rocket science to figure it out. It's easier to kill your enemies and reduce damage to infrastructure if you use chemical weapons. And, with Russia's help, he has gotten away with it quite a few times.

The conspiracy nonsense is 9/11 truther crazy.

Doesn’t do any good.

Assad was already kicking Al Queda’s asses. He was not in that much of a hurry.

The only result if such an action would be totally anti-Assad, predictably. To kill a few dozen men, women and children? Come on.
